Training Emerald Arborvitae

I have some 6 ft emeralds with multiple leaders, any advice on how to train them to have one strong leader if that's even possible? Is it as simple as trimming back the multiple leaders or is there some trick I need to know? Also when is a good time to do this?

Sorry, but I don't think it's possible, especially with 6' planted 'Emerald Greens'.

It would help if you would provide a picture. 6' isn't very tall for an Emerald. Cut back the multiple leaders as far as you can leaving some green leaves. Probably take a couple years to get a good shape. It helps a lot if you start when they are small like I did with the Malonyanas in my picture.

Here's a single trunk 'DeGroots Spire' that's about 8' tall....but keep in mind I've kept it that way since it was about 20".
