I like the suggestions you’ve received and i wouldn’t do any more than that. It is what it is.

I would not hang art here - just too narrow. I have narrow halls in my house and I've learned over 34 years, to just keep it very simple. Nothing will change it. A nice runner and either a nice light fixture or even just a can light in the ceiling, will make it look better and at least be light and bright.

Thanks everyone! I wanted to hang family pictures but I do agree that the hall is probably too narrow for us and others to step back and enjoy. A new light is definitely in order! Finding the right runner is going to be the trick with the flooring pattern.

I would not put a rug runner in that hallway unless it was needed due to dirty shoes, sound muffling, etc. It is easier to clean as a plain tile floor.

If for some reason the hallway bothers you, you could wallpaper the side with the doors or stencil one of the walls. But as a pass-through area, a pretty ceiling fixture is enough, IMO.

Create a small art gallery using a track light to shine on the individual pieces. They should be small pieces that are conducive to close up viewing. It will distract you from the narrowness of the hall.
