I don't know much about it at all, but my sister has ordered trinkets off there with no complaints. Isn't it basically the Chinese version of eBay? So everything cheap, cheap, cheap. So what you may save in cost and get in large quantity, you may pay for in quality and not getting exactly what you want. But if you are willing to chance it...

Chancing it is right!! If you Google "Aliexpress seeds" you will turn up various posting on various sites (including here on Houzz/GW) on how this place sells fake seeds. There are SO many negative reviews about this company online that it is difficult to contemplate anyone ordering from them. Have you looked at the photos that accompany some of the selections??..........the plants they picture are photoshopped - they simply do not exist in the colors shown. And why would we think China is a great source to get any seeds from......other than maybe some Chinese native plants??

Resist the urge and just don't do it!! There are scores of reputable seed companies here in the US that can supply you with whatever you need. You may pay a bit more but at least you have a decent chance of getting 1) a real plant; 2) viable seed and 3) access to English speaking customer service and some sort of recourse, should it be necessary.

The name says it all - I would never order plant or seed material from a place named "Aliexpress". Actually, I wouldn't order anything directly from China, Ebay or otherwise -- odds are you're getting a fake, whatever it is you buy, and agree with GG comments above re: ordering from a US company.

I know that some of the plants on that site are fake, but lets take my lupine seeds for example. I've seen all of those colors offered on other sites, so I know those are real plants. I wouldn't bother ordering something that looks fake. I'm only order something I know is real. If I were to order a pack of 50 seeds (some varieties they give you even less) from say...swallowtailgardenseeds.com, I pay somewhere between $2.50 and $3.00 (and that doesn't even include shipping costs). Shipping on swallowtailgardenseeds costs $6 for people in the US btw, so I have to pay $9 for a packet of seeds. I could get 6 packs of 50 seeds (or more) on that site for the same price I pay elsewhere. If even one of those packets of seeds is viable it's worth it. Unless the seeds are REALLY old they should be fine.

Do what you want :-)) However, don't any nurseries or garden centers carry seeds in your area? You don't have to do mail order. Heck, here even Walmart has a pretty broad selection and lupines are dead common plants....it's not like you were looking for something exotic that even Burpees doesn't carry!!

Gardengal I've literally NEVER seen lupine seeds at Walmart (other than the common purple ones) or any other retail stores. If you want any other color good luck finding them without going online.

Burpees, which is probably the mostly widely available seed source in the US and in every retail establishment I have ever seen that sells seeds, carries the Russell hybrids that come in every color and bicolor that lupines are inclined to produce.

If you read the reviews and the previous postings about this company here on Garden Web, you will find the major complaints - after the fake plants - are the fact that the seeds received are often not at all what was ordered and the germination rate is very low to nonexistent.

If you are comfortable with that, have at it!

You asked for opinions about this company and received them. Yet you seem determined to order from them regardless of what anyone else has to report. If this is the case, I have to wonder why you asked......... :-)

Why do you assume that I'm not listening to you? If I didn't value your opinion I wouldn't have bothered to respond. And you made a comment about "fake seeds", but I know for a fact these varieties of lupines are real and cost 10 times more in the US when you factor in shipping costs (how an overseas company can provide cheaper shipping than a company in the US I will never know). I'm not "determined" to order from this company, but if there truly is a downside to this I'm not seeing it.

Also, do you mind posting a link to the gardenweb review of this site? I couldn't find them anywhere.

There was also a discussion about it on the tomato or veggies forum recently, asking about the "rainbow" tomato plants and I recall another discussion about some wildly colored (ie., blue) bleeding hearts. This company has a reputation and it is not a good one! And you might want to read some of the other reviews posted here. I find it very interesting that there are no (well, maybe one or two) positive reviews for this company.........that should be downside enough for anyone.

I always order from Aliexpress because it’s cheaper than amazon, the managers there are usually very friendly and nice so you can always talk about everything if you face any problem with shipping.first time i used Aliexpress i bought a case for my iPhone they shipped it really fast and reliable, to be honest i didn't believe it because we know that rumor about chinese online stores are a fraud but it’s not true with Aliexpress, they also have Aliexpress English version so you can track your shipments and speak with sellers with english.

Aliexpress is a safe platform where you can find whatever you want. Just make sure you are buying for a verified seller. There are also some tools which are helping you with the full description sorted as in Amazon. Aliexpress is easy in use and very cool website. Wish u good luck mate ))

Um, no one is concerned about invasive species being shipped? No way no how would I trust seeds shipped from China. We've got so many problems with invasive species here, don't chance it.

Both “alex is” and “George Orwell” have no activity before or after their one post about how great Aliexpress is. Just saying...
