Quince tree not blooming

I planted a fruiting quince tree 3 years ago. Before I pruned it (lightly) this past winter, it was about 6 feet tall. The diameter of the trunk at the bottom is around an inch.

Anyway, the tree leafed out in early March, but there have been absolutely no flowers. Is it young enough where that shouldn't really be a concern at this point?

Thanks for any info. Incidentally, I do remember it having some blooms a couple of years ago.

I planted my Quince trees last year in Feb (lasts years weather was amazing for zone 5!) and got blooms in May (no fruit, but i would have pruned it off it if tried to). This year we have been much colder (I am expecting us to be about a month behind last year) so a later bloom should be expected. Also, for me at least, the trees leaf out before they flower. It was my jumbo Quince that flowered, as i am sure there are also variations for bloom time depending on what kind of quince you have.

I have a planting of 1 Jumbo, 1 pineapple, and 1 orange quince all in one hole.

Quinces bloom quite late, how old was your quince when you bought it. If it's 4 or 5 years old it should fruit this year. mine start fruiting at the age of 3 or 4. I am in Zone 5b. and my quinces will bloom in early May

how did they grow all together, did you have any space between them in one hole, a bit of spacing or just beside each other, oh boy there is a good pollination planting them like that, I would love to do the same

i think i have them closer than i should, only about 12" apart, but they are on the same rootstock, so i think it will be ok. So far they have done well, but this is going to be the second year, and i am doubting that they will come out of dormancy before mid may.

I didn't read up on this technique until i had all of my other fruit trees in, otherwise i would have loved to do this same thing with my plums and peaches (3-4 plants in one hole).

Pruning many branch tips or a late hard freeze could cause reduced bloom in a young quince tree.

I'm in North Georgia (Zone 8A). We had a record-warm February—almost 10 degrees above average. Apparently it was the warmest in at least 100 years.

It was a few feet tall, but I don't know the exact age.

mine start fruiting at the age of 3 or 4.

If there was a hard freeze before any blooms appeared, could that still stop them from coming?

The pruning is a possibility, but I'd think there would be at least a few blossoms.

Another possibility is this: When the weather warms up, there often seem to be some "galls" on the tree. It's probably cedar-quince rust, but it seems to be one of the milder cases. Anyway, maybe that condition can affect blooms too.

Tiny bloom bud structures are present weeks before the buds swell, the bud tips color, and the petals open.

OK, I guess it's safe to assume I won't be getting any blooms this year then. :)
