Rosie the Riveter looks like a really amazing colour, and a great name. Parade day looks interesting too...I need a pink stripey nice smelling rose:) May have to wait awhile to see them here tho; doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason to the way they market roses here.

Don't have much blooming yet, and none of the new ones. And it's dumping rain right now! Gonna be rainin' most of the next week too. Waaaah!! I got ROSIE from Edmunds back in early Feb. After soaking in the water bucket for a week or more (couldn't get to planting the roses right away) her canes all turned brown and dried up, but the bud union was still green. I planted her along with the others I got in the raised bed in the veggie pen. Covered her bud union with mulch, and thankfully, she's sprouting a bunch of new canes! Can't wait to see her bloom! Also got FRIDA KAHLO and PARADE DAY. Can't wait for those to bloom too!!

Awesome, BenT! It’s always so exciting to see the brand new releases blooming for the first time. I have ‘Sweet Mademoiselle’ and ‘Moonlight Romantica’ for new ones this year. Nothing on ‘Sweet Mademoiselle’ yet, but ‘Moonlight Romantica’ has produced one lovely bloom. The fragrance is wonderful! I already made a post about this one, but I’ll repeat a picture here anyway. Thank you! I wish I had cut it sooner, but it didn’t look very nice at first. On Easter morning, when I first saw this bloom, it looked like this;

It had black edges, and looked wonky. By Wednesday it looked beautiful! Next time, I’ll cut a bud sooner so I can get a better idea about the vase life. So far I’m very happy with this first bloom. It’s holding up nicely in the vase, after being open on the bush for 4 days or so before I cut it. Did I mention it smells heavenly?!?! Lisa:)

I know - I was done too, but Parade Day just looks like everything I want from a rose! I wasn’t interested at all until I saw and smelled the real thing. I killed a Love Song too! I planted a little one in an area with too much wind. I was so sad but then I visited the nursery and...Voila! Now I’m happy again! Easy fix, lol.

Calloways has Rosie, all my nursery pics are from them. I have visiited 4 different Northern suburb Calloways, they all had them, but 1000 Preston Rd Plano had the best plants.

Yes carol .. last year the nursery had it and I loved the fragrance but had a lot of others ahead on my list. I never forgot it ! Today I popped in and grabbed one because they are selling out . Landscapers come and buy bulk of colors , and you never know in just a week how many sell out ! Didn't want to lose out .

Hey Jc ! Where are you located? I use hewitts in Franklin. $28 each including Austin roses . I live out in burns so there's not too much around my side of town

I live in Murfreesboro and don't want to have to keep going to McMinnville for affordable landscaping purposes.

We have a Southbranch location here, but its overpriced and more of the same you would find at HD or Lowe's.

Saturday's freeze might have killed a couple of the body bags I just planted, so I might visit Hewitt's this weekend.

Oh my gosh ! I love martins out there for perrenials. And bjs for dinner! Haha I have never been to McMinnville .. wish I had made the trip before I had a baby with me always . Well if you make the drive to Franklin , Moore and Moore is close by (Bellevue but only ten min )but no roses yet ( and wayyy pricier ) is nice to look at . Bates in Nashville and the gardens of Babylon in Nashville also on your way down .. I used to love making a day of nursery shopping!

I have to stop going to garden centers. I noticed Parade Day Rose yesterday and took a whiff. Darn it, it had me. But the plant was the last one and it certainly looked well picked over. I shopped elsewhere and found a nice one to call my own. It'll will be planted in a prime all day sun location soon.

I went to Green Thumb to shop for companion plants, but of course had to visit the roses. I saw Sweet Mademoiselle from a distance, because the blooms were almost 5 inches across. I smelled a moderate to strong fragrance of sweet lemon and champagne. It has Graham Thomas and Love & Peace in its lineage.

Jasminerose - I love your Sweet Mademoiselle ... and I really love your description of the fragrance and the lineage. Wow!!!

DVS - I bought a Parade Day too! No blooms, though...so I couldn't smell it. So glad to hear that your's is really fragrant!! Stop stopping at greenhouses??? Get thee hence from this forum!! LOL Obviously, just kidding!! LOL

rosecdn...this Parade Day rose is the initial strongest fragrance on a new rose plant I've come across in the Southeast US. Assuming the scent remains the same for you in zone 3, you'll love this rose a lot!

I had a chance to get Violet's Pride...and I didn't get it, because the bushes were in terrible shape. Buy my friend got one, and I just smelled it the other day....holey moley - the fragrance was intense!!!! Now I'm on the look out for it!

Do you guys find that from season to season or over the years your taste in colors changes? I used to be all about the bright vibrant oranges and yellows but this year I'm just in love with all of the beautiful white and blush colored roses Earth angel I'm looking at you.

Yes Kristine, I wanted every multicolor and lavender rose last year. This year I can’t pass by an apricot rose. But I still love my multi colors and lavenders.

I’ve been feeling a bit alarmed since the buds have shown color. I was afraid they would open too orange for my taste, but that picture is great! I have a Green Thumb Nursery, here in San Marcos, as well. Don’t you just love that place?

Bathsheba (first blooms in 90+ degree weather and full sun). It has a sweet anise fragrance that is wonderful.
