Mona, that is awful! Appliances are certainly not like they use to be! GE seems to be a tried and true company, that is why I chose them. I still may use KitchenAid for the refrigerator, we'll see~

I have a GE Profile fridge that has been nothing but trouble, but I've managed to figure out how to repair it myself using YouTube videos so it's going on ten years now. I actually think it's a Samsung rebranded as a GE Profile since all the relevant videos are for Samsung fridges that need the same parts. So stay away from those two brands for your fridge.

My kitchen aid oven is bubbling off the blue coating on the floor! Corporate headquarters say they have never seen this! I’ll cry foul anywhere and everywhere I need to. This is obviously a manufacturer defect that I paid 3 grand for. I spent hours on the phone w them today, to no avail. I was basically told, your 1 year warranty is over.

Yes! The blue enamel chips! I found it in my food in my induction double oven. I have since decided to go with GE after exchanging this product 4x! I don’t even know how much me and my family have ingested.

This has happened to me 2 times with my double Kitchenaid induction oven! once after only having it for 2 months, they exchanged it. Now the warranty is up and it has happened again, only this time we noticed it while my husband was cleaning the oven and he ended up with a shard of the enamel in his thumb, which then got infected pretty bad. Kitchenaid is going to give us a prorated exchange, which means it will cost us $500 to exchange for the same range. In the process of deciding what to do!

I have a KitchenAid dual fuel oven and the "shiny paper" is peeling off the knobs. It's not even real metal. Pitiful for a $2400 range. I noticed when it started to wrinkle, but now sections have peeled off.

I ended up purchasing all Jenn Air appliances last July. I did a lot of research and previously owned Jenn Air in the previous home, had great luck with the brand and I love all my appliances now! Don't believe all the negative reviews, I went crazy researching! In the end, Jenn Air had all the options and features I wanted.

Linda - I am on my second JennAir inside of 2 years. Both had flaking enamel. I now have a call in for this one, it is 5 months old. They do a great job with customer service BUT flakes are in the food. After the first one failed I decided I would never use the self clean...now this one has failed.

Keep an eye on it - my husband thought it was food until he took a sponge and looked at it. Scary stuff. My whole kitchen is Jenn Air

Linda I’m curious how your GE profile is doing if you happen to see this. We bought and LG double oven from Costco, which we had to call to have sent back within two weeks. We could not make something without finding these blue sparkles and sometimes larger pieces, though we never saw a spot peeling in the oven. We got a GE Profile a week ago, and had the same type of shards all over the bottom immediately after delivery. I am now wondering if it’s just something to do with not cleaning it out well at the factory after manufacturing or if this is a lemon too. I haven’t even used my oven yet because I’m so upset. Is it normal to have “enamel dust” for lack of a better word in a brand new appliance?

Just bought a kitchenmaid double oven three months ago. Paint came off in two slivers: 2" and 4". Currently battling with Kitchenaid to get it replaced as you cannot get a refund. Delays and runarounds abound. Calling a cosmetic issue and sending me a can of paint to repair it myself. Cannot believe this and regret not doing upfront research. This is an expensive appliance with an issue that has continued for several years to no avail!

Yes, I installed in an 80k kitchen I built for the sweetest little old lady. Her existing kitchen still had the original pink 1950’s GE appliances. They were spotless, like they had been stored in a time capsule. Replaced with all KA appliances. Wall mounted double convection oven made it 13 months then epoxy started to crack and pop off while baking. 1 month past warranty. Will not be covered due to that, but if it was still under warranty, it still wouldn’t be covered. It’s considered cosmetic. She has to cover everything with foil so flakes don’t end up in her food.

Dont even get me started on the $780 bill she just paid to fix her KA fridge. Half the lights won’t light, bad circuit board. One visit already at $120 to diagnose and needed one more trip to fix at $660 for part and labor. It was 1 month past warranty too.

lol, the GE appliances I removed were 70 years old and had never had a problem other than a thermostat replaced in the double oven.

Call KA and ask for the safety dept then tell them it is absolutely a safety issue with metal an porcelain flying around oven and into food.

After doing what I thought was extensive research on double oven ranges I decided to purchase a KitchenAid dual fuel range in January of this year. Last week as I was cleaning the upper oven I noticed all these blue flakes. When I looked closer I noticed not just flakes but 2-4 inch shards of blue enamel. I paid $2400 for this range, just 2 months ago! I am very disappointed. Now I have to deal with the hassle of trying to get a new appliance replaced. I really expected better quality from KitchenAid.

So I just heard back from the appliance store where I purchased my range regarding my complaints related to the blue enamel flaking off in my new oven. They contacted KitchenAid/Whirlpool and their response was this was a "cosmetic issue" that is not covered under warranty. They said they would come out and service it but I would be charged! I am disappointed and angry!

No big surprise. As I posted earlier in this discussion I was delivered a KitchenAid range that didn't work properly and was told it was to be serviced even though I wanted to just return it. Who wants a brand new appliance serviced???? I put up a big fight and eventually returned it and bought a GE Profile instead. I'll be steering clear of KitchenAid moving forward.

Service person was just here this morning. He promptly informed me that he was "just the eyes" to assess my problem/complaint and report it to KitchenAid/Whirlpool. He stated that he would file a report and send it to the customer service office for review. He encouraged me to move up the chain of customer management if I don't get the results I am intending.

I just want someone to take ownership for the fact that my new appliance is defective and either get a replacement or a refund.

Richard I would definitely call Kitchen Aid asap. Let them know shards of enamel in your food is not a cosmetic issue and is not acceptable. Escalate to a manager immediately since they will be able to help quicker. Make sure you send in videos/photos. This is not cosmetic if it ends up in your food, it's a health issue. I was able to exchange my range for a new one 1.5 years later afterwhich I ended up just exhanging it for a GE cafe induction double oven. Kitchen Aid will contact your appliance store to authorize all of this. Do not give up and keep on them, following up until you get what you want (I suggest refund or exchange for a different brand). This cannot be tolerated and you for sure should ask for your money back for any service fees which should never have been charged in the first . Escalate, escalate, escalate. Ask them how they would feel eating shards of blue enamel?

I've just noticed that my oven's blue enamel bottom surface as peeled away in a number of spots. Yes, it is eight years old, but I have never used any harsh chemicals or scraped at it. There is no way it should be doing this. My Kitchenaid fridge has seals that are deteriorating and when it was only a couple years old it had to have the drain parts replaced. The plastic shelf adjusters in the dishwasher have broken due to deterioration in the plastic from the heat. Why make something with a plastic that breaks down in the item due to normal wear. I bought all Kitcheninaid items because I was led to believe that this was a superior product. Seems to me they intentionally make them to break.

I wish I had read this before we purchased our $3000 kitchen Aid double oven that has the blue interior. . The Blue paint is peeling after 2 years of use. Both my husband and myself have gotten shards in our fingers. We have called. We have emailed. We had someone that the company sent out, only to tell us tell that the paint peeling "should not happen", and he can't fix it. . Kitchen Aid has done nothing. They told us it's out of warrantee and blamed us for the problem. A person on the phone told my husband that he should have wiped the oven clean after every use, or that we did something else wrong, because they have never heard of that happening with normal use. Clearly the blue paint is a big problem that they are well aware of. Can we as a group of peeling paint Kitchen Aid oven owners so something collectively to get this problem resolved?

Yes the peeling shards of blue enamel from my new KitchenAid range oven (purchased 01/2021) was a very disappointing experience. After several phone calls to customer service and two service tech visits they did replace the range. So far I have not had any other issues, but it is disturbing to hear that some of you are having porcelain peeling problems after months and years of use. There is a definitely problem with the blue porcelain interiors! Knowing what I know now I will not be buying ANY KitchenAid products. We all need to contact the appliance vendors that we purchased KitchenAid items to let them know not to continue selling these, especially the blue ovens.

Richard call and ask for the safety department not customer service. After all mine were replaced, I found the CEO for JennAir and wrote him a letter sent certified - at the end of the day none of the manufacturers care. However a class action lawsuit and or TV coverage might fix the issue

Is it possible that covering the floor of the oven (to protect from drips from bubbling pies, etc.) may have caused the flaking people are posting about? We have had our Kitchen Aid double oven ($2700) for about two years, didn’t notice the flaking of the blue enamel covering until recentlly. Have run the oven cleabner only two or three times, but always wipe it clean after use if it needs it. I had used foil on the bottom during some heavy baking activities recently, , and saw the flaking when I removed it, to do a thorough cleaning by hand.

We are on our third Kitchen aid double oven since our first purchase in 2018 due to the peeling blue enamel. First replacement was after less than a year of use, (3 months to be exact), the next time we were out of warranty when the peeling started, so they offered us a prorated exchange. We could get whatever oven we wanted under the Whirlpool umbrella and pay a small amount for the replacement based on the cost of the oven. We decided to stay with the same double oven as I couldn't find another one I liked as much. Cost us $500 that time. It's been about a year, so far so good (knock on wood). No idea why they have not fixed the issue as it's been going on for year.

6 months I have had this new Frigidaire stove. Frigidaire Model GCRE3038ADE.

I bought this stove in June 2021. Being told by the sales staff how lucky I was to have found this stove since the pandemic had made many appliances scarce. By November, baked goods had metal flakes all over. Upon exam, it was the racks. The flakes were falling to the bottom of the oven, then I discovered they were flying around the oven with food cooking. So much food had to be thrown away, due to contamination. More flakes flew out of the oven and onto foods already cooked, sitting on the island in front of the stove.

First, I contacted Bay Appliance here in Coos Bay, OR, where I have bought several appliances over the last 20 years including this oven. They are as empathetic as wet socks. They offered to order me identical oven racks I currently have, and bill me for them. I price checked, almost $100 each. The Frigidaire customer service number just rings, no one ever answers.

Monday, I am taking the racks to the store I purchased the oven. Someone is going to give me new racks at no cost to me.

I had an LG with the blue interior that was also peeling. so much back and forh with LG as well as ABT, etc. it went on for almost a year but finally Abt refunded tne momey and i ended up gettimg a Bosch

which I LOVED. Moved into a different house that has a Kitchenaid but not a blue interior. But, the inside door is peeling which looks like some sort of plastic. Needless to say my new Bosch is on it’s way! The blue interior seems to be an issue no matter which brand has it. We had a GE that had gray inside and that was also partly peeled off the day they delivered it! You may want to research ovens and read the reviews. I think I’ll stick with Bosch from now on. They are Quality all the way and even though they cost a little more it waa still less than others with big names. It also helps to go to a store to buy and see if the Rep will come down some. Ours always does and considering how they deat woth the LG after it was already two years old….well

We purchased the newest models of 5 matching KitchenAid appliances in 2018 for our kitchen redo. I just wiped the bottoms of my ovens (blue) and found blue peelings all over the rag. Then looked in the bottom oven and I see large areas that actually looked like they've been gouged out where the blue paint is missing......Haven't found any in our food because I think it's from the bottom of the ovens only but will have to keep a close eye on it. These ovens say bake up to 500 degrees. I've used the oven clean feature twice and regularly bake bread at 450 degrees. I don't know why these ovens can't handle the heat. Never has this happened with any oven ever owned before. Sad, but true, they don't make things like they used to - we live in a throw away society - but, although sometimes some improvements are good ones, there shouldn't be anything like this happening with all the R&D that goes on and the higher prices consumers pay. What are people getting paid for? Probably won't purchase KitchenAid oven in the future and just hoping nothing else goes wrong and the paint chipped areas don't cause baking issues. For goodness sake, a black kettle grill lasted longer than this.

We have a Kitchenaid built in oven now for several years. the enamel started to chip while it was still under warranty. Kitchenaid would not replace the oven as they told me "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE CHIPPING IS COSMETIC."

Even today while cleaning the oven paint shards were located once again. Who knows how many small pieces of paint have ended up in the food and possibly consumed!.

I have the same issue on my $3,500

kitchen-aid oven. It was just over 1 year old when I noticed enamel peeling on the very bottom along the ridgeline of the 4 rounded corners. Whirlpool basically accused me of causing the damage and said its cosmetic. Nothing even touches the bottom surface and the oven is barely used. Its obvious I’m not causing the “damage”. Its a defect in their material and they know it based on all the other issues I read about with the same problem. It also gets worse when running the clean cycle so it seems there is an issue with the high temp. After escalating multiple times they refused to do anything and basically told me it was fine if there were shards of enamel throughout the oven. I will never buy another Whirlpool owned appliance again. This is unaccpetable and I have never had an enamel peel in an oven before.

We have a similar issue with a Frigidaire Gallery double wall oven purchased for 3000 dollars with delivery - except it happened within 10 days of delivery : the surface bubbled up and flaked off. Technician changed his story three times and then out right lied. Frigidaire told us we were one week out of warranty even though we called within two weeks of delivery. The oven wasn't even used a half dozen times. The flakes feel like they have crystalline sandpaper in them and the material is very irritating to the touch. Does this look safe to eat ??

When we bought our house it was a bit of a fixer upper. All the appliances had to be replaced. I purchased a couple of Kitchenaid products - a 30" double oven and a dishwasher. The dishwasher had to be repaired twice and after a year we had to replace it as the motor had gone out. The oven was fine for the first couple of years but then big trouble. I ran the self clean on the top oven and midway through the oven died. The door wouldn't open and the control panel was dead. The oven and the cabinet around the oven were so hot I'm surprised the paint didn't peel off my cabinets. Repairman came out and said this was common on these ovens. He said there is not enough insulation and during self clean they end up melting their own components. He recommended I never use the self clean. Today I noticed peeling paint on the bottom of the oven. I'm older and have had many ovens in my time and NEVER I have seen one do this before. What a disappointment! I will never purchase another Kitchenaid product again. Cheap junk!

HU-163227513, oven cavities aren't painted. The surface is porcelain, applied/bonded to the steel. Porcelain is basically a type of ceramic/glass. It doesn't peel like paint. It can crack, chip, and flake.

I have a dual fuel kitchen aid 30" oven...grey interior enamel (not blue), 4 years old. I noticed that the side walls of the drip ban at the bottom are totally "shattering" (looks like broken glass). The range is 4 years old. I was told I'm out of the 12 month manufacturer's warranty and I didn't buy an extended warranty (sounds like that wouldn't have helped, anyway?) and there is nothing they can do for me except place a call for service (which I would have to pay for). I took their offer of 20% off a new item (KitchenAid, Whirlpool, or Maytag as listed on their websites) or 15% off a sale item at the same three companies...because it seemed there was no other recourse. I spoke to two different departments (though didn't try the "Safety" department).

I paid about 2K for this range. It's never really worked well. Takes about 25 min to preheat, calibration is often off, and the lower oven drawer (supposed to get up to 400) doesn't work well. I did call for a repair of the temperature sensor with 12 months of purchase...and it was replaced...but it's never really worked, and calibration is often off. I'm so discouraged...

I don't know if I could get any farther even if I make a fuss or continue to call....

I won't purchase KitchenAid again...but it sounds like this happens with Whirlpool and GE, too? What about Maytag?

KitchenAid and Maytag are both Whirlpool-family brands. Whirlpool has owned Maytag since 2006. Whirlpool has owned KitchenAid since 1986.

Haier bought GE appliance division in 2016 (as noted in a post above in 2019). GE has produced good ranges for many years. I've had zero trouble with my 2004 GE, other than the Hot Surface lights becoming a bit too sensitive (the thermstats that trigger them are part of the individual cooktop burners). There are complaints about every brand. You pay your money and take your chances on anything.

Yes there is a huge issue. Kitchen Aid considers this cosmetic and not covered warranty. I have new (2 months) range never used cleaning cycle. Peeling all over the bottom. This is shards of ceramic floating around in your food, especially onvection. Everyone please file a complaint with consumer protection agency (govt) . Thia is not ok for anyone and we all need to report this to get it corrected. How company could ignore this or consider it not harmful is beyond me. Please report this!!!

Yes, I have been through 2 trays on the bottom in less than 4 months. The last new one started peeling at 10 days. Kitchen Aid will not back it, They claim it's cosmetic, which is it's not. That enamel is coming off and probably in the food. Terrible
