Considering Maddox Sofa from Restoration Hardware-Quality Advice?

Hi everyone- I have read all the horrible reviews on here about quality of RH sofas, but I've done a lot of research and am wondering if maybe they have improved? I am in love with the Maddox sofa which I've looked up and down to find and nothing works for us due to comfort, dimensions, fabric choices, etc. It seems people are complaining about RH's sofa frames, being made in China, and fabrics (although most people aren't specific when they are complaining about them so I"m not sure exactly what the main problem is). I did A LOT of research and it turns out that the Maddox is handcrafted in USA, which it doesn't say on every sofa from there, and also taken from site:

Handcrafted with a double-doweled wood frame
Frame is reinforced with corner blocking and mortise-and-tenon joinery
Woven-web suspension

Seems like these are ideal (except woven web suspension) and if I got the foam instead of the down and the Perrenial fabric which is super durable, could this maybe be a decent option? Could this sofa just be newer and better constructed given all the complaints they have had? Advice Please!

Thank you! Yes I did see most of those discussions, but none were of the Maddox itself. I did call RH yesterday and was told that each different sofa line was made in different places and constructed differently, so I do think it partially depends on the actual line of sofa. I am considering Cococo as well, but I'm worried ordering something and not thinking it's comfortable.

Hello! I have purchased it in the down and luxe depth and it is a very comfortable sofa. I know it not pure down (only the seat back cushions are) but the foam is harder than you'd expect for sure. I wouldn't describe it as cozy, but instead I'd say it makes a great backup bed.

I had the Maddox for around 2 years before I got married and moved in with my wife. I thought the quality was solid. I had the 7' blue vintage velvet sofa with down-filled pillows. I work in NYC as an architect and think the architects who designed the Maddox (Marmol Radziner) are exceptional designers. (http://www.marmolradzinerfurniture.com/vienna-way-collection/vienna-way-sofa). The seat cushions were firm and @Kyle Qiao is right - it could double as a nice backup bed. We have the cloud sofa now and I'm not as big of a fan as it loses its shape quickly.

Really anxious to hear if anyone followed through with their purchase of the Maddox, that was on the fence before? And, if so, how has it held up? I've been so close to purchasing one but have concerns about it retaining it's shape so have held off. Would love any feedback!

Hi tammy! We did end up buying the maddox sectional in vintage velvet and luxe depth. My overall thoughts/opinions…. Pros: clean, modern design and durable velvet fabric

Cons: way overpriced, very firm seating which isnt ideal for lounging and tv binging lol. And there are areas where it sits a bit higher then slightly dips.

Would i buy again? Probably not… I feel like there are other brands that are just as nice but less expensive and more comfy.
