It's not that Sharp may manufacture it. Sharp DOES manufacture it. So you're paying extra for the label.

There is nothing that makes it more worthwhile other than the name stuck on it.

We just went through same dilemma. Our appliance person is very knowledgeable. They are basically the same microwave just one says Wolf. We went for the Wolf to match the others and they also had some gifts if you bought so many Wolf appliances like toasters, blenders, and cookware. Can’t go wrong either way!

I think the Wolf one may have a keep warm function but the Sharp one does not? Or does the Sharp one have a keep warm function too? Much easier with the tilt out controls on the Sharp one?

Nothing wrong with it if part of a package. I got a Monogram microwave for free with promotion. only difference i can tell is that it's slightly less powerful than a Sharp. the Sharp would easily blend in with other stainless steel appliances so just get what is the better deal.

Wolf does have warming feature, Sharp does not.

The only reason it makes sense is if it works out to be cheaper because of some form of discount.

If it is more expensive than the Sharp, then why? I am putting my Sharp under a Bosch wall oven as I am picking each component for its functionality - it's black and stainless so as far as I care, it matches. The microwave drawer is not a huge design component in my opinion and I doubt anyone will focus on it.

And if the Wolf doesn't have tilt up controls, I would NEVER get it as it defeats the whole purpose of a drawer since you would then have to strain to see the controls and use them.

It so happens that I bought a package! Not that I don't cook or did not want the best for each appliance, but the package offered the best in what was most important to me. I don't think you can go wrong with Wolf. I got Thermador, primarily because of my interest in the freezer, fridge, exceptional downdraft (2K- free!) and the induction cooktop. The oven and dishwasher were less important as long as they were high end. I am very happy! Sometimes you can have your cake and eat it!

Anyone have issues entering the numbers/buttons on the Wolf microwave drawer? They are on the side, not in a tilt out panel like in the Sharp microwave drawer. Just wondering if it makes a big difference to get the tilt out panel. This could be a reason to pick a Sharp microwave drawer over a Wolf microwave drawer. Is it a big deal or no big deal? Thoughts?

The older Sharp MW drawer only had a slightly tilted top. My DH was not thrilled with that as he had a hard time reading the panel. We just bought the updated Sharp with the tilt out panel and he's thrilled with it and how he can now see what it says.

So I'm guessing depending on whether you want to bend down or not, it could very well be a big deal.

I checked out various microwave drawers as I am remodeling and the current Sharp microwave drawer with the tilt out is significantly easier to use without squinting and squatting.

All microwave drawers are made by Sharp so it makes no sense to pay more for a different name plate especially when the Sharp drawer is ergonomically superior.

If you need to see the controls, you're tall and you have it right under the counter with a 1 1/2" over hang, it definitely can be harder to see. It does mean bending over.

Presumably your range and oven controls are above the counter?

I used the tilt out Sharp at my daughters recently when she had her last baby. Really, really nice. It’s a no brainer for me. But I am not as young as some of you may be, lol.

Even my triathlon son in law loves the tilt out feature on the microwave. And he does the cooking.

The current new Sharp microWAVE drawer introduced in 2018 does not have a keep warm function. I checked the specs and called Sharp. Prior older models that are still available do have a keep warm function but I like the tilt out display on the new 2018 microWAVE drawer best (it is easier to open than the other one still available). So the question remains - which is more important, better tilt out display or keep warm? Is the keep warm function on a microwave good or not so great? Thanks!

Obviously it's a personal decision but I would find it much more difficult to squat and squint to use my microwave than to find some kind of workaround to keep food warm - why wouldn't an oven at a low temperature work as well.

But of course I use my microwave every day whereas I don't generally need to keep foods warm.

Having to squat and squint obviates the reason I want a microwave drawer which is its ergonomic advantage over a regular microwave which is either too high or too low for comfortable use for me given that I don't have the room to place a standard microwave at the best height.

Thanks very much. I checked the instructions on the Sharp website but I do not see anything about how to keep warm on it for up to 30 minutes. It may say to use “manual operation” for warming beyond a few seconds or so but then refers to another page without more guidance. This is kind of annoying!!!

Sharp makes all of the microwave drawers so any feature available in any other manufacturer must be available thru Sharp as well since they are making them.

Going to disagree. I think looks arr a completely reasonable factor to consider when purchasing an appliance. Sure, you shouldn't get something you don't think will be reliable or functional for you, but if it will work for you and the $ difference isn't material to you, by all means get the one you think will look better in your kitchen.

And this nonsense that there is a "best" appliance brand for a specific function is ridiculous. The quality of your food comes down to the skills of the cook and quality of the ingredients. Unless you are cooking commercially, unless it's a lemon, the make or model makes little difference.

I got all Jenn Air pro appliances and HATED the matching microwave drawer...it was ugly and loud. My salesman showed me the Sharp, told me the same thing (Sharp makes all of them) and I loved the simple sleek look of it. I don’t care that it doesn’t say Jenn Air. I say go with the one you want.

I am 6' tall, standing a foot away from the counter. No problem at all. That said, if I could have a tilt screen, that would definitely improve visibility. I think the tilt may or may not introduce other issues but I'm not sure. I was dead set to get the sharp with the tilt screen because it looked so clean when not in use. It is also 100W more powerful than my Monogram (why? I have no idea) which may or may not be an issue.

My range controls are below counter height. Also my oven is an undercounter installation.

The problem is I am not sure which one I want. Both are probably fine. Just not sure how much of a pain it would be to do touch control on front versus on tilt out display and not sure how useful/good keep warm would be.

If you can hold off for another 2 weeks I can truly check it out. I don't have the one with wave touch but it does have the tilt out.

Personally I deliberately decided against the Wave since it had no useful function for my individual lifestyle purposes. It just seemed a bit of delicate electronics that could mess up and I've never had issues opening a microwave - the one in the store I tried was not beyond my physical capabilities :-).

I can see the functionality of a no touch faucet because one might have mucked up hands but I couldn't picture a scenario where I wouldn't be able to open it and yet still have one hand free to wave :-)

Yes I agree with you about the wave. Seems silly because even if you use it, you still need to use your hand to touch the buttons to turn on the microwave. Anyways, I don’t really see using the wave but I do like the opening of the tilt out display much better than the prior tilt out display version - the wave one is easier and quieter to open which makes it much better.

Mine without the wave is perfectly quiet.

I can see going for the wolf if you are trying to match aesthetics with other wolf appliances. That may be worth the premium to some. Also be aware that for Wolf microwaves the warranty is 2 years, not the 1 year as in rhe Sharp. Both cover the magnetron for 5 years. I can tell you Sharp microwaves do not appear reliable from the bevy of user reports so this is not an insignificant difference.
