What is it that bothers you about the exterior of your house? Do you need a new roof? Why get a new roof if you do not need one. If you are looking to spruce up the exterior of your house, you could repaint the shutters a different color. A dark green, black, or gray would make a great contrast and you could also paint the front door the same color as the shutters.

The siding, shutters and garage door need to be a darker colour and then the trim an accent colour, or matching the siding, if that is what you prefer. It is all too washed out right now. It is hard to see the front door, it looks like it is a darker colour - dark olive green maybe?

It is hard to know from the photo what colours will look best with your brick, but maybe BM HC107 - Gettysburg Gray.

Have a look at that colour on the BM website and see the coordinating colours they show with it. Acorn Yellow 2161-40

(not yellow at all but actually looks to be about the colour of your brick) and Lemon Ice 2024-70 which is yellow.

So, maybe Gettysburg Grey on the garage door and siding and shutters. On the trim (is that known as soffit?) along the roof line maybe the Lemon Ice colour. You can download your picture into their paint app and try out colours you like.

Also the landscaping needs to be larger scale. Those shrubs are on the small side and need some time to grow taller. In the meantime, some big pots with some nice tall pieces and flowing vines, to bring both height and colour to the front of the house.

Maybe the lights on either side of the garage door need replacing as well. But I think you should start with the paint and then see what else jumps out at you.

The BM visualizer is really helpful. Drop a photo of the house in there and start using your imagination with colours.

For the door, maybe a color similar to these shutters.

I'd do a neutral, gray (neither too blue or too brown) roof since that will go with everything.

Pretty color combos, Beth! I especially like the first one you showed. But it's hard to tell true colors on a computer monitor.

So you already know that those shutters aren't sized correctly for your windows so they should be removed.

I like the color of your front door & would use the same color for your siding.

Gray roof, red brick, white siding and dark gray trim.

I would definitely get a gray roof. White fascia and a blue door, no shutters. The problem now is you have no contrast. You have a beautiful lawn.

Plant a tree on the left side of the house to balance the height of the right side.

Beverly, what are your thoughts on painting the trim above the large windows the same as the siding? Love the grey..

your brick looks a bit on the orange side to me. Green is a great complementary color. I like Beth H. First suggestion. I would not do the roof green however, still with a more neutral color like a medium gray

Is it brick or just painted orange? I can’t tell from the photo. If paint, I would lose that color and do something else... not totally sure what, but more neutral.

Haha.. Here I come with my thoughts ...I would stick to grey roof and put white shudders on all windows and paint the front door white . And of course put some trees to balance everything out . I would put a cluster of three trees on the left . TheN Put some flowers and be happy ! It's a great looking house and garden !

BeverlyFLA's mock-up is very nice, & her design ideas are fairly affordable, which is always a plus. The mock-up does point out this house's design weakness: the bland blank wall of the garage door sitting on a sea of bland blank concrete. If you cover the driveway & garage door in the picture with your hand, the house perks up -- nice architectural details & materials, nice proportions & placement, pleasing colors. Then when you take your hand away & bring all that blah back into the picture, it's just so...well, blah!

Spending on a pretty garage door would do this nice house a world of good. A landscape designer could offer some suggestions about the driveway, as well as come up with a more interesting landscape for the front.

OK, here is the house if you add the top panel of the garage door with windows.

Or paint the whole house white with black shudders , black front door !, trees to frame the house and ready to invite and have fun !

This is a different photo of the landscaping . This was last year when first done . We had to pull all the old shrubs out and start fresh so they are small little bit bigger this year.

Roof color . Just picked !! I’m so excited about all the suggestions . I do want to add the lights on each side of the garage are new from Ballards . Much larger than originally on house .

Is heatherwood a brown or a gray?

Heatherwood is the grey family . Here is a example on a red brick like mine . Sort of .

^That heatherwood in the roof pic above shows a bit purple to me....I would go back to the grays or black for the roof. Weathered-wood is neutral.

CertainTeed Heatherwood appears to show some grays with browns? Computer monitors can be tricky though. Yet, it may be the, "Heather blend" that has the mix. What you show on the brick home appears there is some brown tone within the mix?

Your house looks more orangy than red brick and I would do a gray with it, No hint of brown.

It looks okay, but I think white and gray would look much nicer.

jacob623, are you opposed to something close to the current roof color...or a bit lighter? The 'Heatherwood - Roofguard' shingle sample in your photo looks brown-ish on my screen.

Pleasant looking home. Already has curb appeal but, as the painted parts of the exterior need repainted, do consider a darker color for the siding. BeverlyFLADeziner is right about the shutters and the exterior color.

Personally I would plant several large trees, but I'm a tree person.

Beth M's ideas, the first ones. Your shingles are fine that you choose. I LOVE a dusty green on the house with your brick. ALIVE it is. Yes, the siding above the garage door also.....or, if you can find just the perfect hue of paint to match your brick there, paint the garage door and the header THAT TONE of color, like your brick is, as well as the gutter system that adjoins down the brick wall........ and use that green everywhere else. Than, you can make your front door a very pretty color.... such as a very very soft yellow?? So pretty!!

I love this site ! I have been following some of the other dilemmas and everyone is so helpful ! I can’t wait to post some pictures when I make some progress !

A gray-ish green would go great with the orange-y brick. Like Beth H's first photo.

The heatherwood roof will be great on your house. It has warm tones blended in so it won't clash with the warm toned brick. My first reaction at looking at the original picture of your house was that the cool toned roof fights the warm toned brick & siding -- too difficult to overcome by just changing door & shutter color.
