Just saw some asparagus spears poke their heads through! They look good and fat too. I'm so excited, when I planted those little dead looking crowns I didn't think anything would happen.

I planted the crowns May 2017, the first spears came out Summer 2017. Now this is 2018 and the spears are starting to return. Does this mean I can harvest some in 2019 or do I have to wait until 2020? I know it says 3 years but does starting with 1 yr old crowns mean I can chow down a year earlier?
