That is a beauty. DG, I do that also, give a plant it's own pot and put it where it can get more specialized care. My garden soil is terrible. You just gave me an idea, I had several old, old clumps of amaryllis that were under the roof overhang when I

bought this home. Poor clumps were either baked in hot sun or flooded from roof

rain. I put them under an oak, filtered sun, improved soil w/ compost and horse manure, and where I can water and feed them

and see them when they bloom. they didn't bloom this year. But the foliage is

nice and healthy.

mr1010 - I'm sure you did this, but if a clump is too crowded, it won't bloom, so you have to separate them and spread them out. They usually don't bloom the first year after they're moved, in my experience. I separated a big clump this year, and they haven't bloomed although most of them are blooming size.

The experts over at the Amaryllis forum said the damage looks like thrips, which may be what happened to my confederate rose flowers last year too. I'm going to have to go systemic on that bed, I think, which makes me sad, because I usually don't us chemicals, but thrips can spread all over, so better safe than sorry.
