Living Room Design - Beige/brown disaster!

My husband and I just moved in to a new town home and the living room is in need of major help. All of our furniture we've acquired over the years is beige/ brown as are the walls and carpet floors in this home. We are renting the space so we can't change the paint color or carpet but appreciate any tips/ tricks on making this temporary house feel like a home!

What colors would you bring in to this room to brighten it and make it feel less "beige" and boring?

Hi. Depending on your budget, I would consider buying new furniture that is smaller in scale. Then you would be able to redesign your color scheme....

If you want to keep your furniture, consider slip covers, throws and art pieces that attract the eye away from the beige and brown....

    Good Luck to you!

Your pieces are great neutrals. Navy, white, and orange or red accents, black and white accents with silver metals, aquas...almost any combo would work with your furniture.

If you go to Photos on Houzz and click on the link to living rooms, you may find some great ideas.

Art, an area rug which includes color (yes, on top of the beige blah), curtains or draperies, an accent color in pillows, a chair or two in a COLOR. Do not add anything brown or beige. Use Command hanger things if you can't make any holes with nails to gang your art.

That chair seems a little crammed in the corner. Can you take a pic of entire space, maybe we could help with placement also. Yes, you need drapes, art, pillows, lamps.

Great colors to liven up beige and brown--reds, yellow, orange, and certain shades of blue! I have two sofas in my living room that are a light beige and my accent colors are cream, black, and burgundy. Some beautiful, colorful art and throw pillows that pick up the colors in the art would help immensely, along with a gorgeous rug.

Right of the bat I would use the ottoman that goes with the large chair as a coffee table . Maybe put a tray on it with some magazines and a plant . Then move the chair in for talking into the group , such as on a area rug like suggested above . Throw pillows will transform your couch !! Large art goes a long way .
