    Hi jencarr11,
White Macaubas quartzite is sold per slab, rather than per square foot since it is a more exotic stone. On average, slabs tend to run around $2900.00.

    Hi ireneb,
White Macaubas quartzite is a very hard and dense stone; however, granite still tends to be slightly more durable and easier to take care of. It's a pretty close comparison though.

That is incorrect. Actual quartzite is HARDER than granite. This looks like marble. We have the "quartzite" which is actually calcite/dolomite and softer than granite and quartzite, slightly harder than marble. It will not scratch glass - quartzite will. Our looks nothing like this - ours is little quartz crystals that have been polished and is spectacular - nothing like this. Will post a photo.

Yes, the majority of quartzite is harder than granite. White Macaubas is absolutely harder than granite. My shop guys (who fabricate natural stone all day long) always talk about how fabrication of quartzite, especially White Macaubas in particular, is much more labor intensive than the fabrication of granite. The only negative that we have ever experienced with true quartzite is that some colors can etch. So, if lemon juice sits on the stone overnight, you can see a dull spot in the morning where the acids ate away at the polish/shine. We have seen this on both Dolce Vita and Super White. Since quartzite is natural, every color will have slightly different minerals that will react with acids in different ways. Granite, on the other hand, does not etch.

Hi is the core coloring for Macaubas quartzite with a taupe undertone? Or is it possible to find pieces with white undertones?

    Hi Antoinette,

The Macaubas does tend to have a light gray/taupe undertone rather than a true bright white. Only some marbles have that pure white background color, unfortunately.
