Terry, first of all, ask yourself do you really need one? How often do you fill a pot that it cannot be done at the sink? I can see you daily make pasta for 20 people and use 20-quart pots in that case you need a pot filler, but for an average family, it's a waste of money. Good friends of my they have one installed and he said it was a waste of money and they eat pasta daily.

That being said the location should be above your tallest pot. So if the top of your stove is around 38" and your tallest pot is 14" that gives you 52" so your pot filler should be at around 56".

One more thing, when you have them installed, make sure they're on the cold water tap and try not to get distracted by a phone call or answering the door when you filling the pot, or you will flood your kitchen, seen that happen a few times.

The look costs a lot and IMO too many leak down the road or are always in the wrong spot. I would save the money and use it for something useful in the house.

I'd put the money elsewhere as I don't think this adds any design points to a kitchen. It's not unique anymore so people aren't oohing and ahhhing over them. Plus, down the road if you have to replace the sink faucet and end up going with a different style that means you will need to find a faucet and a pot filler that go together and that could limit your selection.

I love to garden and grow fresh vegetables. I also can and preserve vegetables from my garden (i.e. fresh salsa, spaghetti sauce, vegetable soup, peach jam, etc) so I use a large water canner. I cannot carry that huge pot full of the water needed from my sink to the range. Therefore, I have one in my kitchen. It gets lots of use. I love it.

Nowland- out of curiosity how do you handle emptying the water from the pot if the pot is too heavy to carry to the range? And lucky you for having a garden that gives you such a wonderful bounty :)

tedbixby...A lot of the water will steam out so that I can lift it. But I do sometimes have to use a plastic pitcher to dip into my big pot to empty some of the water so that I can lift the rest. I have a raised garden bed "U" shaped that makes it easy and fun to garden. I am all about convenience, plus I have a back injury and refuse to not do what I love, so I have thought of ways to make it easy for me. Thanks for asking.
