Swap fridge with cabinets and get it at the end of that cabinet run towards the other room. Same with the island. Swap that drawer base and get it into your prep space on the end of the sink. You don’t have enough room next to he sink for prep. And prep and cleanup are not well separated.

But Id also try having the fridge and pantry bookending the range on that back wall and getting the sink off of that island to put it on the wall where the fridge is so that you could have the whole island as a work surface. Or maybe the island attached as a peninsula.

Without dimensions and a whole floor plan, there’s no way of knowing if any of this works within the context of the home as a whole.

Are you planning to store your dishes, glasses etc. in the drawers next to the DW? If not - rethink.

If we decide to go with this design, I'd probably store the dishes in the cabinets opposite the dishwasher.

This is what that wall looks like currently, and keeping the pantry where it is might be another option. But then we wouldn't have space for the dishes, so maybe not?

Sophie, putting the sink along the wall never occurred to me! I'll have to figure out how that might work.

I think the layout looks pretty good and functional, but make sure to measure carefully so you know that you have enough space to use the kitchen the way you want to.

I have a couple small suggestions. I would move the dishwasher to the far left of the island and center the sink to give you more counter space on both sides of the sink because (1) having more counter space directly opposite the fridge could be very useful and (2) that way someone could be at the sink and someone else could get in the fridge at the same time without bumping into each other. I personally don't like the appliance garage and would prefer the counter space and versatility of eliminating it (even if you keep appliances on the counter, you can move them or work around them more easily).

I think the island is too narrow for both sink and seating.

I like Sophie's suggestion. Sometimes a peninsula is the most functional layout.
