Cacti & Succulents

This is real right?

I'm 99% sure this is a stupid question but as all my teachers say, there are no stupid questions. This is mine: is the white "fluff" of this cactus real? I'm pretty sure it is but just wanted to make sure it's not artificial like how stores glue the straw flowers on cacti.

Thanks!!

It's real. Google Oreocereus.

It is a mechanism by which the plant protects itself from intense sunlight.

You are right about one thing, it’s not a stupid question. We see braided trunks, spray-painted plants, fake flowers, etc. so there’s no telling what else might be out there. Cute fuzz ball you have there but don’t hug it!

Nika, I agree with your teachers. The only stupid question is the one not asked. I do however, think people should take notes so they don't ask the same question every day (can you tell I'm in IT?).

This cactus needs tons of direct sunlight. Otherwise they tend to lose the hairs
