Your counter is a cool colour and your backspash is a warm colour. That's why they don't go very well. I think if you can find a similar tile in a cool colour, you'll be happier.

Unfortunately, the tile and countertop don't go. Backsplashes are fairly inexpensive though. Find something cooler. Pick the lightest color from your countertop and try to match that.

I agree the backsplash is outdated so a change would probably be your best option. We suggest adding a full backsplash from the same material as the counter or accent tiles such as the picture I’m attaching from one of the projects we recently worked on. What about a nice plain subway tile, in standard or larger format? Simple, clean, and goes with literally, everything.

Melissa, get something whiter for you backsplash. As Jennifer said, the cool does not go nice with the warm tile.

You can get a great look to better match your counter tops for a lot less than
you might think with adhesive tiles that normally come in 1 sq. ft. sizes that
you can cut down to fit. From mosaic tile, glass, stone, gel, skinny to stone –
check out some ideas here. It’s unique, less expensive because it’s easy to

That’s really interesting, it would be easier to remove and replace eventually. Thank you all for the comments, they have helped in making the decision of changing the tiles to something that will go with the granite.

Thanks I will keep that in mind and let you know. I do have a professional coming over who will help me coordinate the colors. I just don’t trust myself, but on a positive note, I have seen many other posts about people choosing a granite that turned out to look totally different once installed in their home. Too bad did not see them before. However, the granite is beautiful and I realize that my wall tile had way too much pink understones too

Melissa, Even if you had planned and gotten a sample of the counter and sample of tile for a backsplash it still may have not matched once installed. It is tough to know the exact colors, lighting, and tone of each piece in it's space. The good news is your cabinets look fantastic with the new counters. I love it!!! I think the new counter ( i did not see your old one) but I would bet looks even better especially in light of the BS being so warm and the counters being so cool. The cool color looks gorgeous with your dark cabinets. You made a wonderful choice.
