Building a Home

Shutters won't fit. Alternatives?

So my wife and I had dreams of some really cool functional shutters, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards as our windows are too large. As you can tell from the picture above, there isn't enough room on the wall to fit shutters.

My wife is concerned about the house looking naked. We are open to your ideas/thoughts. I like the idea of planter boxes on the large windows. Should we have them do something neat with the brick around the windows to add character?

FYI- Seven acre property, 1000 foot driveway, the home will be brick painted some shade of white.

Forego the shutters, landscaping is your answer.

No you don't need shutters, planter boxes etc. The house is not naked and as Mark says once it's landscaped will look fabulous.

I have been using your house as an example of having multiple garages but not having them the first thing you see. Your house is beautiful as is, or will be.

I love your house. It does not need shutters.

If anything, I'd get rid of the recessed areas at the foundation wall and make the columns a couple of inches thicker.

I do like shutters, but it's better to have NO shutters than to have BAD shutters, and -- yeah -- shutters aren't going to fit these triple windows.

Your house is not naked. You don't need shutters. You don't need window planters. You don't need masonry decorative gee-jaws.

You're overthinking.

Everything is fine. Repeat after me: everything...is...fine...!
