Cute pillowcase! Your GGD will love it.

As far as the pattern question, if it's a truly unique design I would pay for it. If it's sort of a reboot of a traditional pattern I'd probably work it out on my own. That does seem a bit ridiculous for addressing and mailing an envelope!

My bank just launched a completely new online bill payer system. The old system went off line this past weekend and the new system was available on Tuesday. Of course, nothing transferred over, so last night I was entering the bills that needed to be paid and discovered the credit card payment was going to be late. For some reason it takes 2 or 3 days to "process" an electronic payment now! I could pay $20 for rush delivery, but that required a physical address and all I had was a PO box. What - they're going to print out a check and send it to them? We were able to call the c/c company and pay the bill over the phone, and I should have just mailed a check since I knew the bill payer system would be down.

But still, 3 days to process an electronic payment? Geesh.

That's excessive. No, I would not pay that - at least I wouldn't if I knew that S&H was going to be that much. I thought the practice of gouging with excessive shipping had gone away. (They used to do that a lot on Ebay - sell you an item for $5.00 and then charge $15.00 for the S&H.)

I just did a search for a craftsman pattern and found 2 different ones. Both seem to be available from multiple vendors. Also, it's appears that both are available as a download. Next time, I would look for a download rather than have it mailed.

First, I would complain to the seller.

Second, I would name the seller, so that none of us makes the mistake of buying from them.

Never say never, but right now I have no plans of ever buying a pattern or kit again. I've also been burned more than once! Anyway, my current to do list has mostly "run of the mill" quilts where a pattern isn't needed.

Too many that can be figured out to ever buy a pattern again in my lifetime. When showing a picture of what I've made, I try to also post where I saw the picture and the name of the pattern so I don't appear to claim any credit. I think that shipping was excessive, even for Canada.

Theresa, your pillowcase is adorable. For $35 you could have gotten a whole book of patterns. I think it was excessive, and I don't blame you for being peeved. I haven't bought a pattern on-line, but it sounds like a download is the way to go if I do.

We all get burned once in a while. My sis was vacationing in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (south Caribbean islands). I missed her incoming call, so I called her back never thinking about its being an international call. I had evidently set my phone up to make international calls when traveling in Europe several years ago. I just dialed her number and started chatting - 45 minutes worth. When I hung up, my carrier texted me a message saying basically, you might want to set up an international plan instead of paying by the minute. I knew I was in trouble. I was charged $90 for my call. Oops.

Theresa....love that pillowcase as will your GGD! I'm with everyone else...the cost of the pattern you paid, when all is said and done, is outrageous IMHO.

Personally, I like to figure out a pattern, it's the challenge, but I'm ok to pay if it's not an obvious redo of a block in the public domain. I've paid for a few, but never have I paid more than 10.00 bucks or so for a download. What gets me is many designers take a basic block, use some new fabric,, make a quilt and then re-name the block. Then they want to sell it....really!

Speaking of getting ripped, but mine has a happy ending. I purchased a dress on line for a wedding. It arrived, looked horrible, returned to the vendor the same day. When the vendor received it, they said I damaged it. I complained bitterly, and they told me to go away I was a bad news customer. So I complained to the BBB. It was an offshore supplier with offices in NYC and while it took close to a year, I finally got all my money back. BBB was Super!

Cute pillow case. I don't remember if I have ever bought a quilt pattern, I think a download once. I mainly make something that is so easy, there is no need. But I would have been upset by the price you paid as well. But we all make those kinds of mistakes once in a while. Life is too complicated now not to.

Pattern arrived this morning. Actual postage was $1.15. That is a lot of handling for $12.00+ . Anxious to get going on it.

Wow, Theresa, everybody in town must have handled that package! LOL

Here is the finished top. The backing is ready too, one piece of green down the centre and two lengths of cream.

The pattern was easy enough to follow but I found a lot of leftover fabric. The "borders" were strip pieced so making width of fabric strips and only using 30" resulted in big unused strips. Into the scrap bin! It measures 55x70 a nice lap quilt or junior bed quilt.

The green was another find in the treasure chest. It is TOT green butterflies. And I used red to copy the red in the main panel. And will bind in green.

Will try to finish it up this week and send it on to Nova Scotia.

A good way to showcase your bug fabric. In fact, that's an excellent pattern to use for a panel! Good job!!!! You're a quick quilt maker, Theresa. :-)

What a darling set for your granddaughter, Theresa. Forget how much the pattern cost. The end result made it all worthwhile.

Quilting is done, just needs binding which is ready. I only straight line quilt so nothing fancy. Centre is a diagonal grid about 5 in. apart. Then ditch stitching everywhere else.

I think I will have to make this pattern several times to justify the cost. And I have some fabrics I call " fancies", lovely prints you hate to cut up, which would probably work well.
