What is there now and what is the problem? Do you like gardening or are you looking for little maintenance? The replacement needs to be low so as to not give he appearance of barricading the walkway, so either convert to lawn or replace with low plants.

Hi...its Juniper and I hate it. There was grass there before the landscaping contractor tore it out and created this masterpiece 12 years ago. To be fair, I did not know how to maintain it. He only planted perhaps 3 of this juniper groundcover and then it became invasive. I just want better curb appeal. Thanks for your thoughts. I just may have my current landscaper plant some grass. There are stone boulders that keep the slope in place. Again..thank you.

Three junipers is too much for that small space so I can understand that it would be a hassle to deal with.

If you want suggestions for other low-growing plants than grass you should look up your USDA growing zone and tell us.

I would be most likely to return it to grass if it were mine, but you could look at some of the groundcover perennial geraniums.

You will want to avoid overly aggressive thugs such as ivy and vinca since they will want to take too much space, similar to your groundcover junipers. I wouldn't plant it with a variety of perennials unless you want to do the maintenance on a perennial garden that is so much front and center, weeding, deadheading, dividing, etc.

I think you have to choose between evergreen and long blooming for perennial Geraniums. Some of the evergreen ones have nice fall color so you would have late spring flowers and fall color. Maybe some summer bulbs like lilies would add some summer color, or even a pot of bright annuals.
