Tile cleanliness/upkeep questions

1. Penny round tiles (not white) on the kid’s bathroom floor: will it be painful to keep clean with all the grout? I’m planning on doing white subway around the tub with some blue penny round detail as a band.
2. Thinking about Carrara marble (3x6 subway) backsplash in a busy kitchen...would it look weird to put stainless steel behind just the stove? Or just keep it all marble and seal/reseal well?

I don't have the experience to give you an answer, but I can validate the question!

I was looking at variegated gray penny rounds and was very pleased to learn that I could get the same colors in a 3/4" hex tile. Penny Tile just has SO much grout! Here, look at the difference in the tiles I was considering:

You can click on the photos to enlarge them to better see the grout spaces. If you like the hex better, it should be fairly easy to find a white one. The same place I am getting mine from has a 1" hex for $5.95. TheBuilderDepot.com

Oops, you were doing blue, not white!

I forgot to talk about your kitchen backsplash. From what I have read about marble, I would put the stainless steel behind the stove unless you do not cook with tomatoes, oils, or other foods that have color in them. ;-)
