Is there an onions smell?

No onion smell........they came off what I thought were the dead blossoms from dahlia flowers. Seeds were dark brown/black, hard and about the size of sesame seeds. I'll have to try and post some photos........I'm sure that would help with an I.D

Embothrium, just thought I'd get back to you re the leafless dahlia seedlings...........you were right, my wife said she said they smell like onions re smelling with her eyes closed (my sense of smell is terrible). Don't know how I got onion, chives or green onion seeds labeled as dahlia seeds???? Oh well it looks like I've got myself some onion starts!! Funny how some things turn out!
