Is the 1st photo the actualy space? And that's your table? Can't tell about the carpet color from the photos. More info would help. I take it the dimensions are in meters.

Hi there, my apologies. The first picture is the actual space in the dining room. The carpet colour is called oilskin ( http://www.godfreyhirst.com/au/hycraft/product/grand-luxury) - also shown in the third photo (triangle corner sample btw the two sofas). And room measurement in meters. Cheers.

I would choose the bold dark gray, and use accent colors of softer neutrals to soften it. The bold dark gray continues the contemporary design but is really stark, hence softening it with the lighter neutrals and triangular carpet you showed in the photo.

Depending on how brave you are, yes go for the dark grey because it would be a neutral colour that would go with anything really. But make the two 'rooms' feel like one by adding a small amount of colour as a feature running throughout the two different spaces. I, myself, like yellow, like a darker yellow. Adding yellow and grey cushions with a pattern so the yellow and grey are rig next to each other. And then yellow flowers on the dining table with, possibly, a series of three small square canvas paintings in yellow. It's the accessories also that will make the room.
