Kohler cast iron sink availability

I've supposedly found and ordered a Kohler white cast iron sink. Due to the Wi Kohler plant fire, it is on back order. Does anyone know if Kohler is making the sinks again? I'm nervous about the timing because we've started a kitchen remodel and I don't want to stall the work.

We are in the middle of a renovation and had specified a Kohler Cast Iron tub and a 4' long double wall-mounted Brockway trough sink. We heard this several weeks ago related to the tub and were able to substitute a similar model that was available. But as we're supposed to move in within a week, I just heard today that the sink will not be available until October! The plumbing is already roughed in and that is very specific to this particular sink. We are trying to figure out what to do so we can get final inspections and a working sink in this important hall bathroom. I think we are going to wall-mount the faucets and then mount 2 individual inexpensive wall sinks below them until we can get the Brockway sink. Our supplier (Ferguson) has supposedly called all over the country to try to find one, but since this fire was in January I think any stock they had is gone now. Bummer.

I was able to find the executive sink in white from efaucets.com.

I guess Kohler has the corner on cast iron. I know how disappointing it is when you're doing something expensive and relatively permanent. I hope your remodel turns out well despite the changes.

J Berry this is one of many bumps in the road but it will be worth it in the long run. My Grandfather had this house built as a mountain retreat in 1931 and we bought it from cousins last year so it would stay in the family. Thanks.

Re: Kohlers Jan. fire. We’re SOL with a special ordered Kohler kitchen sink for our new house. Very disapointed and a huge set back. It’s a whole domino effect. Wished the supplier would have said something back in March when we were making our selections.

I ordered a Kohler cast iron sink in March, after the fire. They said it would be 45 days plus shipping. It arrived yesterday. More like 100 days.

Our plumber should have ordered ours in March or before. Unfortunately they didn't and now I think we're last in line behind all the other back orders. We found 2 cheap wall sinks we could pair with the wall-mount faucets as a make-do arrangement until we get ours in October or November!!

Just wondering if you all have received your Kohler cast iron products? I ordered a kitchen sink in sea salt April 1 from a local Kohler dealer, they told me July. Then in August they said November. Then two weeks ago they said it wouldn’t be in until after Christmas. I surprisingly found it on Home Depot online and have had two delivered but they both had manufacturing flaws. My kitchen remodel has been done since July and I don’t have a sink. I’m so frustrated with Kohler.

Kristi: My last Kohler cast iron took 90 days. I've got another on order and told my customer to expect the same. I could get it earlier and pay more, but my customers would rather pay less and wait.

Joseph, do you think it is my dealer that is the problem and not Kohler. We are at 6 months. I would pay anything now. I can’t wrap my head around it. And then when I found it online I couldn’t believe it. And was so sad that both have been unusable.

Throw a sheet of contact paper covered plywood over the cutout, drop in a cheapie, and wait it out. No way I'd do 6 months.

I did receive my sink in a timely manner from efaucet.com.
I'm sorry you're getting such a run around.

I seems like it gets the marks from pots and pans much easier than my old kohler sink. I would have saved the money and bought a big 1 sink stainless, but my husband refused. Of course, he doesn't clean the sink.

Joseph, I should clarify my contractor plopped a cheapo bathroom vanity sink in the cutout. That’s all that would fit due to the curvy shape. So I do have a sink, but in my mind I don’t have a sink because it looks terrible.

That’s not good to hear about the marks and cleaning. I did order metal grates the will go on the bottom of the bowls that are supposed to help protect the finish. I guess we will see if I ever get it. Thanks for responding!

Stuart, looks beautiful. Worth the wait!

I was at our Kohler store in July and was told they had just started production and would make white first to fill all the backorders, then they would start on the colors. They were estimating my sink (color) would be 4 months, so November delivery. I ended up switching my plans and am going with a white sink , which I ordered from Wayfair since Kohler was still 8 weeks out.

Stuart, what a great sink! (That would be a perfect sink for parents of twins. )

Looks great! We are installing the smaller version (Kohler Bannon) and having a hard time figuring out how mount it to the wall. What brackets did you end up using?

I have to profess to be ignorant on this one; our plumber did it one day while we were away so it just magically appeared! Good luck!

Does anyone know if this is a still a problem? I’m considering getting a Kohler Riverby cast iron sink. Thanks for any info.

I was able to get a Riverby earlier this year. (Very happy with it, by the way!)

@Mom, great thanks! Do you remember the lead time? HD seems to have it in stock. (?)

I ordered it through Build.com and it took about a week to ship. However it was shipped via freight so there’s some variability depending on weather I would guess.
