My builder put in the small coffered ceiling in the TV area of the basement we are finishing today. We had a miscommunication. I thought he was going to lower the ceiling to the beams were flush with rest of ceiling. He didn't. He made the beams the right depth we said (8 inches) but then didn't lower the ceiling...so now I have a rectangular tray with a 2x3 grid up in it. What are your thoughts. Does it look ok as is? Would you have him redo and drop the ceiling so beams would be flush? Or would you deepen each square by adding beams underneath (approx 5 inches). Heres a pic
