I’m seeking advice on next steps for my family’s 1940 colonial. Do we once again paint (every 5 years) the exterior wooden slats which are now degraded due to negligence? Or is it time to go with some other type of siding?

We already replaced the slate roof with asphalt shingles 8 years ago due to costs.

Any advice would be much appreciated!
