I would love to hear what our color experts have to say as well. A contemporary trend that I have been a fan of for awhile is the monochromatic approach to painting — painting walls, trim, doors, etc. all the same color. I think that it would not only look timely, but would also do well to create a soothing and seamless hallway entry. I think all of your color choices would complement this look.

Restoration Hardware has a beautiful color ASH - With a soft white trim and simply framed black and white photographs or some other simple grouping of artwork on the walls - it would look welcoming and warm.

I would recommend painting all of this the same colour but switching the finish selection on the doors/trim from that of the walls. No need to define the doors, and a much more seamless look.

I would say gray walls and black trim since you said you wanted dramatic. I would complement with silver picture frames for black and white pictures on the wall... White ceiling to open up the space a little...

Love the idea of same color for walls and trim, but trim in a semi or even high-gloss. I always paint doors the same color so they blend in. Gray is pretty, but what about something darker and more dramatic, like a charcoal or even eggplant?

I love your idea of using 'mouse's back'. But I would actually forget about seperate trim and wall colour, and paint it all 'mouse's back', trim, walls, doors and all. Use artwork to make a big impact on the left wall and create an eye catching vignette into the room at the end of the hall to draw you in.

I agree with many of you now that the hallway should probably be painted in one color and then use the artwork (b&w) to bring life into the hallway.

Mouse's back turns out to be a really dark color under this light, knowing what weather we see in London, I feel bit reluctant to use that now, though it may look great, I struggle to visualise it in my mind !!

So the options which I think now are:

1. To create drama - Light Gray F&B (All walls, doors, trimming)

or

Recently I came across this picture on this website and find this hallway really nice, it's dramatic, with dark colored doors... Issue is I've over eight in this hallway... Will be great to hear your words on this......

Finally, Farrow and Ball are known for naming colors slightly unusual, wonder who gets the inspiration ! Elephant Breath should really put many people off, but hey it seems designer's favorite in this part of the world !!

I don't think you can go wrong with a stunning colour like F&B light grey. It is a very elegant colour, and would be a great backdrop to some killer art. One other thing is some black hardware (door handles) would look stunning with this colour especially if you chose black frames for your art!
