Go to a good mattress store and lie down and test drive. Be prepared to spend a few hours.. A good mattress is not going to be "reasonably" priced. And define reasonably.

It's a third of your entire life, and it should last ten years. You don't spend a third of your life in your automobile.........

Tempurpedic.

Tempurpedic are ridiculously hot in my experience. Check out saatva. Instead of being a foam mattress (hot), it has traditional coils which are wrapped in foam so you don’t get the bounce when your partner moves around but you don’t feel like you’re getting sucked into the bed.

Agreed with Jan Moyer. You have to lay on it to feel the difference between the brands. Also, if you deal with your local mattress store, they will deliver them to you and set them up. Chances are good they will haul away the old ones. You will have your local businessperson to contact if there is a problem.

You need to go to a store and check out mattresses in person. Leave adequate time to really lie on a mattress for a good period of time.

From my research, I decided to avoid the nationally advertised brands. I bought from a very knowledgeable independent store owner and I bought based on what I determined was best for my needs. I also sleep warm and decided on a latex comfort layer with top layer wool over dense foam. I am simplifying the different layers. Learning about mattress construction is extremely helpful in evaluating which type of mattress is best for your needs.

My mattress is a local brand recommended by the owner and it is fantastically comfortable. I bought with an adjustable frame and the price for both was less than at the Chains with their constant advertised sales.

We bought Saatva for all three beds. Very happy! Any guests that stay comment on how “comfortable “ the bed is. The company is also helpful and friendly to deal with.

It's really incredible how people act when they're behind a keyboard. Just because you CAN say something, doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Really For those People who will recognize them self by their post you don’t have to be rude and mean , if yo don’t like my question just don’t waste your time answering and mine reading it , I know I can go to a store anytime , if I had the time , I work as a pharmacist 10 hours day for 6 Days .... dindat - If you don't have time to shop for a mattress, the website I posted above does have recommendations for mail order mattresses and by reading some of the background information on that site, you might be able to make an informed decision regarding which mail order option is best suited for you.

My hubby bought a Casper as I was away traveling and we needed a new mattress fast (long story involving living through a reno).

I rather like it overall, but for me it is a bit too hard on the pressure points and joints, so we added a foam topper, which makes it perfect. We ended up buying a second for our guest bedroom, and also added a topper to it.

Can't beat the price.

If you like a firm mattress it may be perfect for you without the topper.

Just passing on what I am still curious about: one of the brands that starts with 'S' isn't so good... but which S was it. [So what if nobody knows. Too bad I feel defensive on this thread.]

Regarding online sales, most have a 90-day trial period (more or less). If you decide within that time you don’t like the mattress, they donate it. Can’t get easier.

For me personally I have a hard time ordering anything I can't see in person. Add to that something I am going to be sleeping on daily and ordering offline would never be a good formula for me personally. That said plenty have done it with fantastic results. There are hundreds of independent mattress review videos for all brands of these on YouTube.

For us we have had a Sterns & Foster Mattress for years ( upon years). We will be buying all new for our new home and unless this company and its mattresses have greatly changed we will likely be going with it again. They've been phenomenal.
