Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms!

My daughter and I spent the day shopping on Saturday. I needed new clothes desperately. I came home with several new pieces of clothing and a new hat. We are to wear a hat to church on Sunday and I didn't own one! DH graciously offered his John Deere cap but I declined.

My Simply Sixteen machine and frame arrived this week and now we are in the process of moving things around in my sewing room to make room for it. My son-in-law carried all the boxes (7) up the stairs for me. I don't think he had any idea how heavy they are when he volunteered to do it. lol

There won't be much sewing done by me this week as my room is mess. Are you quilting or sewing this weekend?

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, step-moms, moms-in-law, grannies, aunts, sisters - all the women who helped raise kids.

I hope to spend a little time on the Scrappy Four-Patch Chain blocks. I have 21 of the 30 finished and the last nine cut out. I’d also like to get out in the yard a bit. It’s supposed to be lovely today.

Linda, my DH was always doing little things for my mom. We joked that he was scoring more points than my brother’s wife. :)

The flooring project has finally made it to the sewing room! There is end in sight. Of course, my machines and the furniture are scattered all over the house. Maybe in another month I’ll be able to see again.

I croceheted for an hour this morning...first needlework of any type I’ve done in a month!

We are driving to DD #2 today for dinner. Two hours there, two back. Not my idea of fun ( the drive that is) but she doesn't have company often.

Bug quilt is finished, washed and ready for mailing along with two pilowcases.

And since the basement is nearing completion, I will spend the next few days going through bins and making some serious decisions re keep or pass on.

    Happy Day to all.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you. It almost turned out to be the worst nightmare Mother's Day for me. We almost lost our son yesterday due to a wasp sting. I got a call from DIL that he was in the ambulance and they were administering rescue IV - we rushed to the hospital. He was very dangerously close to checking out. He's better today, still swollen in the arm but not like yesterday when his whole body swelled, respiratory distress, blood pressure dropped to danger level. Whew.

Today we will do some smoked salmon on the grill with corn on the cob, sweet potatoes, cole slaw and this wonderful dessert we found at Sam's called scoop cake, never had it but it looks awesome.

I had a B-Day recently and got an Amazon gift card and got another one today so I ordered from them for only the second time ever - some Kaffe Fassett charm packs, can't wait. Yes, Linda, keep us posted on your new machine.

Happy Mother's day to all. A nice thing happened to me yesterday. A young teen I have mentored since 3rd grades mom called and asked me to join them for a Mother's day dinner last night. (I didn't go.) He thought up the gift, and is paying with his own money which he earns. (he's now 14.) He's turning into a wonderful young man.

I just finished the cowboy quilt top for my SO yesterday. I called my favorite quilt shop for LA, and they are 8 weeks out. Looked at Missouri Star and they are 8 weeks, always. I have two or three more options.

My quilt wall is too small to really get a good look at the finished top, so I'm going to pull out a package of batting and hang it, so I can get a good look and take photos.

    Happy Mother's Day, everyone!

Oh Rita, that's scary! So glad to hear that your son is doing better.

Bkay, my LA is 12 weeks out. Anyway, can't wait to see your quilt.

Rita - glad that your son is doing better. Was this a known allergy or did it appear out of the blue. Either way it's scary.

Happy Mothers Day to all. I'm so lucky to still have my Mom, even at my age. She's a Rock Star at the "home" and I go up every four weeks in case I have to bail her out because she resists authority. She's a known watercolor artist in that area and at 98 is even teaching and passing on some of her watercolor skills. She's an inspiration to our whole family and I hope I've inherited her genes. Let's hope she's here to celebrate again next year.

Yes, lucky you! She looks wonderful! Good wishes for next year.
