Its really hard to tell what color the bed is from this picture as it is pretty dark. Is the rug staying? Are those the colors you're working with? they appear to be tan, cream and pink? What about wall color? Is that staying white? Your wall lights are in the wrong place. I think mirrored chests would be nice on either side of the bed. Maybe just get lamps instead of the sconces. Your head board is high so the sconce placement is going to be tricky. I would do drapery panels on the windows to soften the look of those blinds. Color will depend on what your walls and bedding will be.

Love your rug, I am planning a very light pink and gray room. May I ask where you got the rug.

I'd layer that bed up using soft whites and bringing in some blush and then a print that plays to the greige of the headboard. Do chests for the bedside. The bed is "heavy" and night tables will get lost. Load up on some gold as an accent in lamps and pillows. Id do some Duipioni silk drapes.

Those sconces are absolutely useless where they are. Don't even worry about new shades until you relocate them. Sconces that high are only good if you plan to stand in your bed.

Also....

1) Ask yourself: Will I still love mirrored furniture in 10 years? You can get the same look with mirrors above nightstands.

2) Lighting should be functional from the bedside. If this were my home, I'd remove the sconces & patch the wall. Use a series of frames to hide the patches in the wall.

We removed the wall sconces & patched the wall. We hid the patch behind two frames : DIY Mr. & Mrs on burlap. (Trace a large font onto burlap with white nail polish- easy decoration & camouflage)

I don't know your budget or you willingness to DIY versus buy.

Can't advise on furniture without knowing a bit more about your style. I would advise you to pull the rug out from under the end of the bed a bit. More of it will show and the chair will be better grounded.

What size do you need for the nightstands? It appears that there isn't a lot of space on each side of the bed. Just echoing what others are saying - remove the sconces, they are your Achilles heel.

Make sure that the height of the bedside table/nightstand is at the top of the mattress height or higher.

Based on your photos I think you need lighter and brighter.

I love them with your rug but not crazy about them with the floor or blinds. Do you always keep the blinds closed? If open is the room bright?

I feel like your rug is making the room want lighter finishes but your floor and blinds are probably better with darker finishes.

What is the top height on your mattress? Are you only interested in fully mirrored? What size of dresser? For myself,given the floors and blinds, I would not add any espresso shaded pieces.

(heck,sometimes I still am) You have a very,very good start so....the nightstands should be about the height of your mattress,but like all rules it can be broken. Can you do a simple drawing with the room measurements? Just tell us the inches,where the windows and doors are. Also,what do you think of ivory shagreen? This 23" piece is from CB2.

Will you be sharing this room with another person? If so, get their input. It will help you narrow your choices.

re: MIRROR nightstands.... Will you still want them 10 years from now? Will your tastes change? They are a commitment, whereas a medium or dark tone will lend itself to different decor styles. Think of your dresser & night stands akin to a BBD (basic black dress) that can support different looks you choose with your other accessories.

For your sconce situation, you require a sconce that moves in more directions than your current swing arm sconce. Here are some examples that will work better in your conditions.

I’m curious what the door to the right of the bed is? Where the entry to the room is? The way the picture is taken it makes it look like the wall the chair is on is the longest wall in the room and opposite the entrance door to the room?

Something well worth considering for nightstands -- in lieu traditional bedside tables -- are small wood filing cabinets -- either with two filing drawers or with a third shallow drawer. you can always add wheels if you need it to be taller. Not only can you keep documents and/or tax records/bills in them but also photographs or even purses or hats. There is a wide range of styles and prices so it's likely you can find a pair that fit your taste and budget.
