'Field grown" and in a container are two separate growing methods....which is it? (btw, most "field grown' trees are sold B&B). If in a container, I could understand how the trunk might be loose in the soil......B&B not so much.

By monkey puzzle, I assume you are referring to Araucaria araucana, which is neither a palm nor a cycad but a true conifer, so wonder why you decided to post here.

It's field grown. It's B & B (clay soil and in a container with compost around it). it was probably recently dug and put in a container. I've seen nurseries do this. Which thread do you recommend I post this?

I'd post on the Conifers forum.....since it is a conifer :-)) And include any photos if you can to help with illustrating the browning. Which would be a concern, IMO.
