Dining Room Makeover :)

Hello! I’ve attached a picture of the space I will be working with, yes it’s very tight! I’ve removed the current wall art and the walls have been painted a beautiful gray (dovetail by Sherwin Williams.) I am looking at a few different options for tables. I’ve attached a few that I have considered. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! My house is neutral colors with a pop of blush!

Can you also include a photo of the room as it currently is?

I apologize for the mess, we’re out of town right now but my mother was able to snap a quick picture. You can see the actual colors of the walls and the new throw pillows from z gallerie! We are wanting to brighten up this space. The new flooring will be installed soon too which is a gray/white wash!

I only see one table that is glass with a gold base? Did you post other options? Be very careful with a glass table- I find they often come off as cold and not livable. Love how the rest of your space is done though! I think if you're trying to go more modern you could do a white laquerer table with big stuffed chairs. But if you want to warm your space up a bit I would do a cool toned wood table. Round is also automatically more cozy and inviting if you have the right space for it.

PS, not sure where your mom is standing, but if I were you and she's standing in a hallway, I'd rotate the couch 90° to face the wall, creating a cozier sitting area and making the rest of the area feel more open. Right now the black chair is kind of sitting out there in space. I'd either put the black chair on the left wall and the white chairs inside the bay window area, or move the black chair over beside the fireplace. With the black chair relocated you'll have more room to create a true dining space.

Your inspiration pictures all have much lighter walls and furniture. I don't think I would change the floor color, because the one you have provides some warmth that would be completely lacking with grayish floors. A white or very light dining set would be your best option. I hope you're also considering area rugs in the dining and living areas.

I’ve attached a picture of the table we’re interested in from West Elm! :) We just don’t want it to be too heavy for the room since the base is quite thick and we’re trying our best to steer away from wood. The floors are replaced through half of the house are are set to be finished throughout in the next 30 days. Unfortunately, there’s no changing that plan! Plus I love the new flooring! :) Hopefully we can find a way to warm up the room!

I love these chairs! Would they go with this set? I’m not sure if a rug is the best idea for our situation because we have dogs in the hone. They tend to think area rugs are potty pads :(

The dining chairs you show are out of stock/not available on 6 sites where I found them listed. Wayfair shows them being back in stock on Sept. 7.

Hm, I see what you mean about the base being too thick. I think it will be fine though! I do like those chairs you picked and think they would work nicely. If you’re considering others, I love these chairs too.

@helen I absolutely LOVE some of these options you’ve suggested. I’m tying to keep our total budget (table and 4 chairs) under $2000. Do you have any suggestions for similar sites at a lower price point?

Ha ha - If you find any equivalent designs for less, let me know. I've been looking for awhile and the only ones I like as well are even pricier. You could cheap out on the table for awhile because the chairs are now on sale so four chairs would run a bit more than $2400. You wouldn't need the table to make much of a statement anyway so a simple small base and top would be relatively inexpensive.

Not sure which of the chairs you like but this table is on sale for $1046 and doesn't read heavy. It matches a chair that is similar to the one you posted.
