coffee table suggestions

We just recently purchased a L-shaped sectional and are looking to replace the current coffee table with something that fits the aesthetics of this couch. My wife and I are butting heads as to the appropriate shape...she wants a rectangular or oval table, while I’d prefer something round or square. Many suggestions would be much appreciated.

I like the idea of a round coffee table in this space, would look good with the round curve of the couch.

A round would work very well!

I'm not going to say anything about a magenta sectional against a navy blue wall with lavender drapes. And instead I will say the word round.

Well, I think your colors are fabulous, and I vote for a large square table.

The sectional looks huge in the photo. No coffee table is going to be accessible from all parts of the sectional. Do you plan to get an end table(s) for the sides that have nowhere to place a drink?

The colors are amazing. How about a rounded rectangle? A marble top Saarinen style oval coffee table would look incredible too. I would go twice as wide as what you have currently.

To complement the shape of the curve of the sectional I would recommend round, however there are times when other ends of the sectional require the use of a coffee table and so round nesting tables often provide a dual purpose.

A round table that swivels to make it larger as needed.

I would vote for round. I have a sectional and love having a round coffee table in front. The roundness means I don't worry about barking my shins on a sharp corner. The round shape seems to provide more access than an oval would. I also think a round shape would look nice with yours.

I love your sofa and I think it looks great with your walls. I vote round coffee table.

(I also love the drapes that Beverly posted with the room)

Oh wow - we have a similarly shaped and sized sofa - see my recent dilemma!

We had a round table originally and it drove us nuts as it was hard for nearly anyone to reach, except the person sitting in the curved area of the sofa. So we replaced -- you can see what we replaced it with the glass coffee table you can see in my recent dilemma. Mostly rectangular but has a round edge.

Otherwise I think Grover is totally on the right track.

Ooh Beverlyfla and Grover nailed it. I think Beverly's are more versatile though. And you do need more modern curtains as beverlyfla suggested (no grommets, blue not purple, and way way fuller) but other than than I LOVE your sofa and colors.

Bottom of your sofa is symmetrical, so I would go with round or square table.

    I would replace lamp.

Your house looks non-traditional enough to carry off no coffee table, if you wanted to go that way.

As an alternative to the side tables you could use c tables.

How will you use the table? Do you put your feet on it? Then it needs to be stable enough for that.

I also like a large square but with rounded corners. You definitely need different curtains and a large, interesting rug, and pillows that are no higher than the back of your couch.

Large square has more surface area per butt.

I have a large gray sectional and currently have a rectangular leather ottoman. It’s from my previous family room and the wrong color. Although I love being able to put my feet up, I decided to go with these nesting tables. I like how the round table will open up the space and I’ll be able to pull out the other table when I have friends over. Hammary nesting tables. They were pretty inexpensive too.
