Looks nice and definitely brightens up the room. Great job!

Looks great! Love the choice in stone for the fireplace!

Beautiful work!

The stone you chose lends itself well to a timeless design and will work with a multitude of palettes. Excellent work accessorizing as well!

Very nice!

It looks so much better, what a great job. Did you do it yourself? Always curious about that....

One suggestion: instead of the vases why don’t you try some ornamental pieces. I think it would add more interest.

Again great job.

Looks great!

Amazing! That family photo you had in the original (before) picture would be perfect for the new space on top of the mantle. Excellent outcome!

So much more modern! Love it!

So much better!

This is absolutely gorgeous, I have the same brick fireplace in our family room, I would love to do this instead of whitewashing it. Did you just go over the brick or did you remove it?

hello Angela. thank you! we went over the brick. just removed some pieces on the bottom on each side :)

You just updated your house by about 30 years! Amazing!

Looks great!

Hi Luz this is gorgeous. Did you use black spray paint over the darker parts of the fireplace?

Confused. The “before” is a corner fireplace and the “after” looks not to be.

jpq221 it is the exact same spot. just the after pic is closet and you can't see the borders of the walls.

looks great!

I have a brick one too and just ordered tile yesterday to redo it. Did you remove the brick or go over it?

never mind -- saw the answer above. How long did it take, and did you do it yourself? i've been spending hours trying to figure out how to do my similar project!

hello! My husband did it himself. it took him about 4 days. first he removed the old insert, some pieces of brick on each side at the bottom, then he leveled the existing base with concrete, then put the tile, glued the drywall on the sides, glued shiplap on the top, put concrete nails to properly hold the new mantle.

Looks awesome ! Great job!

Looks Fabulous!
