another thought- what if we added in a color not in the kitchen at all- like a bright blue or something to add a bold color? would that work?

I don't see the backsplash picture. Your cabinets and granite are beautiful. Great selections. I would go with a cream colored natural stone 4x4 installed on the diagonal. This will support the counter top without competing with it.

Beautiful kitchen. I would do a subway tile and keep it simple and let the granite be the star. I don't see a backsplash picture.

Thanks! I think it might be busy too- do you think a duller color (Cream color) would look too light or do you think I should go with a dark color tile?

We have the same granite in Our new kitchen with similar colored cabinets. I love the large veins in the granite. We went very neutral with the backsplash so as not to detract from the focal point which is the granite. We installed cream colored glass subway tiles (3" x 12") larger so as not to have a lot of grout lines. We Love it so much! It has an elegant shimmer but let's the granite take center stage. I will try to post a pic for you in the morning. Please don't use blue tiles, too permanent. Use other deco pieces in colour so you can change them at will when you tire of them.

I have the same granite on my island and I'm going with champagne subway tiles for backsplash ....so it doesn't compete but matches....my perimeter counters are going to be ceasarstone reflections

Go with a simple, all one color glass light cream subway tile or light brown. But nothing busy and nothing blue. Your granite is busy, keep it simple. To me simple equals elegant and timeless. Looks great!

Agree with above ladies. It's classic looking granite with neutral cabinetry. Subway tile is classic as well. I personally believe that style never goes...u can punch things up with flowers or fruit or plants. Tile is nice but maybe for some other room.

Here you go - the beige glass subways - took on a very slight greenish hue, but that may be from the clay beige paint beneath - in any case we love it. Looks much more green in pics though. Don't mind the wires hanging down - valence to cover lighting still needs to go up.

I agree that a simpler backsplash would be preferable with your busy (but very beautiful!) granite, allowing it to be the starring attraction!

I think you should run the same granite up the backsplash.

Love the term "continent" to describe your island, Lisa! I think that should be made part of the official terminology. "Do you want a peninsula, an island, or a continent in your kitchen?" ;-)

I was coming on to suggest cream subway tiles- it will tie the floor and counter together as a common color and it looks great in the above kitchen !

I love the kitchen! Counters, cabinetry and appliances all look great.

The pearl would probably look good too, but I think bringing in a darker color is a smart idea, since you have a lot of other light colors in there.
