I'm second guessing the measurement my KD has for our island counter. If the cabinets measure 54" wide by 24" deep and we want a 12" overhang for seating, shouldn't the total counter-top size be 57" by 37.5 assuming a 1.5 inch overhang on the 3 non-seating sides?

She has it at 56" x 35.5". Am I missing something? Can the sides of the island (without cabinet doors) have a smaller overhang?
