Need help picking a colour for my new shaker cabinets

I would like to go with a deep cherry stain, but not too red, or a lighter cherry stain. I am adding an island and don't know what colour of counter to add to island. I am keeping the current countertop.

    Lay the cabinet color options on the counter top and see which one blends best. You do not want to have the wood tones compete with that counter. The island could be a neutral brown and the cabinets white/ivory. almost all the homes featured in the Minneapolis area Luxury Home Tour that just wrapped up had white kitchens with darker wood islands.
