Aloe help please

Hi, this is my new plant. It arrived like this, with a few leaves having already bent and snapped. They seem too floppy and can’t stay upright. This can’t be normal? I repotted with potting mix and perlite, watered only once in two weeks and have placed it on a south facing window.

One simple rule. Don't water if the soil is already moist. You can check by sticking a wooden or bamboo skewer in and leaving it for a few minutes. Underwatering is much easier to fix than overwatering. You will be able to tell when the Aloe is thirsty by looking at it's leaves. They will become more concave and squishier as well. In the summer, you might need to water every week to every two weeks.

For fertilizer, many people here use it for succulents. I don't. For me, it is more trouble than it's worth, and it's not a requirement. People use it mainly to speed up growth. If you want to use fertilizer, I'm not the one to ask as I know next to nothing about it :)

I'm guessing it just needs some time to adjust after being repotted.

Yeah, I would just wait it out. It looks like those leaves just got bent. They won't heal, but eventually the plant will out grow them. And you can always post here if there is any more funny business :)

Thank you very much! Is there anything specific I need to know about looking after aloe? I’ve never had a succulent before. How often to water? Does it need fertiliser etc?

I agree with not using or lightly using fertilizer. Can do more harm then good. I do recommend using stuff like compost tea or Alafia, or stuff like bone meal. Again, little goes a long way and don't over do it.
