Powder room - now what?

Hi there, we just installed a new vanity, tile backsplash, toilet, light and mirror. Not quite sure how to make it look "finished" now.. Maybe something over the toilet - but what? Is there a good place for a towel hook? Lots of blank wall space in this little powder room. Of course we will put the electrical covers :) Thanks for any opinions!

Is it just too white? Maybe a warmer paint color - but what?

Check out lowes! The paint department will have oops paint that has been mistinted for like $5 a gallon and my store does them half off on Sunday. I found some great paint and repainted my mpowder room for $2.50!

Thanks. Aside from paint I think something else should be happening in there -- but not sure what?

I think a warm tan color could pull it together nicely. You could also add a shelf on the bare wall and put some dark purple/red/brown candles there. Or a pretty bowl with potpourri. Another nice touch is a large, standing vase or umbrella-stand type thing in the corner, with tall dried flowers.

Can I ask you why you did not backsplash with the same material as the counter top? I find that tile not suited to this counter. If this is a store bought vanity and you can not match the counter top, I would replace with a simple clean subway tile and let the paint make the room sing. Just bringing in color from paint will make it feel less empty. Also, I would add a toilet paper holder to the side of your cabinet.

Margo this is the look we are going for with the counter/tile being different, That part we will keep, just the rest seems so boring and lonely! The mirror may be "too much"? Maybe a rectangle shape is better?

cinbu- thanks for posting the close up, much prettier than the original photo (remember that is all we have to go on). I like the mirror, gives character. The wall just may be to close to the toilet to put much on. How about a wall decal?

Maybe the other wall could have some color - a warm spicy color, and some art work. I am not sure how much room there is for art over the toilet, and it might compete with the mirror shape wise. However, a nice floral arrangement on the toilet might be nice.

Oh that close up is of the inspiration room not mine :) Will post a close up of mine now.

Adelaide totally agree about the mirror shape. It's so unique, hard for me to know what to do over the toilet.

Going to get a close up.. thank you!!

Add a nice book on toilet then add a brownish vase,on top.Do you have room for some art,on other wall??I do think you need some paint,on the walls, someone posted a tan...or what you like..it would warm it up.Your choice with a color for a vase.Do you have room for a nice candle on the counter??

Ok here's my tile and counter up close..

I like both the tile and the counter, but they don't seem to match to me. The tile is very warm and the grey counter cool. I would try to make them blend together more by picking a wall colour from the tile that DOES go with the counter..like maybe that blue in the middle of the tile.

Why is the backsplash and counters so different? They seem to be fighting each other...could be the lighting.

the counter has a tinge of green in it, that's not pulling into the photo very well..
If there's some green, then I would work with that and find a green wall colour that goes with both the tile and counter. A new wall colour and a bit of art is all I think you need to make the room look finished (but then again, I'm not a fan of tchochkes in general..just more stuff to dust!). I love the mirror, btw.

I do think some paint will make the space seem warmer. Install the towel rack on the wall by the door. A toilet paper dispenser/hook next to the toilet. You should also consider a nice picture for the wall in the third picture. I think those touches will help the space to feel more complete.

    Hope this helps!
