Questions re: hardy oriental persimmons (i.e. 'Ichikikei jiro' )

two thumbs up.. for using annual growth as an indicator of future size ...AND ... for presuming that if it grew like that in the year of planting ... it usually isnt going to slow down from there.. unless it was heavily fertilized either by the grower.. or by you in planting ...

i have had some small conifers do this.. then regress in annual growth ... as they settled into my sand ..

if the standard plant grows 2 or 3 feet per year ... and a named cultivar grows less.. then one might say the the latter is a dwarf of the standard .... in other words.. it has a slower annual growth ...

but that does not mean.. its going to stop at some magical height .. as trees.. they do tend to keep growing over the years.. or decades ... its just going to be smaller than the non-cultivar ...
