I think a faux silk navy blue or velvet would look great in your formal dining space. I'd probably do faux panels by the windows to keep the natural light flowing.

A pale neutral, very close to your wall color with a navy blue border/trim...the drape color won’t takeover the room, the blue trim would tie it in with the rug and the orderlyness of the trim (made up word) would balance the pattern of the rug

I would match the wall color. You just want to soften the look of the room. Navy would be too dark. Please don't do a pattern you already have 1 element in several styles going on here: garden chairs, farm table, modern rug and traditional chandelier. It's starting to give a choppy appearance. So keep the curtains simple

You need a lesson in decorating styles because that room doesn't make any sense and that's why it doesn't look good. You have a traditional home. Then for whatever reason you have a way over the top formal chandelier and then you try to go with white dining chairs that don't match the style of that table. And then that rug is way too casual and colorful for a dining room, that's the kind of rug you'd have in a patio or a sun room. Now the last thing you should do is add navy blue drapery panels in an attempt to make that rug match with something. Yes, to some degree you can mix and match within styles, but it still has to make sense, things still need to work together, and that is not happening with what you have in your space now. So stop what you're doing, figure out a style that makes sense with the home, and then get someone with some decorating sense to help you. It looks like you have a very pretty home, you just need help with decorating it.

What a great room! So much light! I like how you have mixed in the chinoiserie style chairs with the slightly more transitional table and you have a lot of colors to work with in the rug. I would stay away from linen and navy. Maybe put some pale soft blue silk hats on the bulbs of the chandelier to soften it a bit and pick a drape of similar color. You may want to have the rods silver and crystal finials to tie in the chandelier more? And I would put a collection of white silver and blue items on the table
Also you need a buffet or chest of some kind under that sunburst mirror with maybe some buffet lamps on it as well?
You may find the mirror is hung a bit high but that's easy to fix.

IMO a pale teal faux silk would be really nice very full and hung from the ceiling with that chandeleir I am not a fan of panels that cnat possibly cover the window they always look cheap to me.

I think the room is lovely and I personally like the mix of styles. After the other's comments, I agree sheers or light fabric that matches the wall color would be soft and beautiful.

thanks for the comment on the chairs i knew they were a classic, just could not remember a name. I too, like the room, my only thing would be the table being so dark and heavy. but I think that falls into liking the juxtoposition not being my style. i say go for it!

I wouldn't do navy ...stay with light ...wall color tones ...in silks and look instead at your chairs ...are you happy with the color of your chairs ? To me they don't go well with your elegant room especially the gorgeous chandelier ...
