Nice! Were your floors water popped first or not? And what type of topcoat did you use?

My floors were not water popped, and it’s a water borne finish. I still love the way my floors look, but they dent pretty easily. Don’t know if that’s the wood or the finish.

Always go with the lighter of the two! Once a whole space is filled, you will be surprised how dark it ends up looking Great Choice

Late to the voting game. I voted for the darker. We have requisite gray walls and our dark floors look great with it. Definitely a preference.

that must be white oak b/c it looks a little different than those stain options on red oak. I love how they turned out, glad you are happy b/c it's a big decision.

Any chance you know what stain was used for your island?

@Mary McAdams were your floors red oak or white oak? can you share a few more pics :) I am leaning early american for ours as well
