Weird surprise and non grafted color!

I purchased a white adenium last year from a local nursery. It seemed to have a nice big caudex. When I repotted it, I discovered there were TWO separate plants buried beneath! Well, the second one never bloomed for me. I assumed it would be white or pink, since it's not a graft. Nope! It was a strange but nice surprise! It's a raspberry and white twist.

Why would they bury this one in there? I am confused but happy!

The white it was potted with^. The raspberry colored one was pruned terribly, please excuse. It will be getting a fix soon.

Sheerly by luck, I found a small plant, at a local Home Depot, that displayed beautifully colored flowers, that look similar to the above photo, but without the twisted petal segments....and it was NOT a grafted plant, but seed grown.

I'm keeping this plant for future grafting material. I'll use these scions, and graft them onto the branches of a braided Adenium.

Candice, your raspberry and white twist plant is a beauty.. What a bonus to have it in your collection and isn't it the lucky one that you are looking out for its best interests.. Hope it remains with you for many years to come.

Candice, a beautiful frilled petalled flower. They probably potted two together to give the impression of a larger caudex....for sale. Or maybe just so you would have two different colours in one pot without having them grafted. Enjoy!

Thank you Frank! Here is another bloom that opened recently:

I love the purple edges. As you can see in that photo, it's producing some split flowers as well. They also fade quite a bit as days pass.
