My basil is absolutely HUGE right now!

Off topic, but just had to share. This plant is an absolute MONSTER! I swear the leaves are twice as big as they were last year! Also, on a separate note, the leaves appear to be curling a little bit. There are no spots, no discoloration, and the plant does not appear to be distressed. Just looks a little weird. Does anyone know why this is? Anyways, does anyone have a good pesto recipe? I'm expecting a ton of this stuff this year.

Is it the same cultivar as last year? Some basils do have seersucker like leaves.

And some varieties are MUCH larger than others. My basil are just getting their true leaves. I sow them quite late because I want them to be young while I'm getting tomatoes. Any basil that's up and running now will be trying to flower all through the tomato season.

The basil I get is consistently huge - I've been getting plugs from one of my favourite farmers at the farmer's market - 3 for $1 and it never fails. It just grows, and grows and grows...

The slight curl in the leaves is normal with basil. I have'nt made pesto in a while, but I usually would just google pesto recipe, and then look at several of them and decide which one I think I would like the most. Or you can google the name of a famous chef followed by pesto recipe and see those. Like Lydia, pesto recipe. Shes known for Italian food, and probably has a great pesto recipe. Personally, I really love adding pine nuts. It makes a world of difference.
