Old Dirt- “Like” is not a strong enough expression here!!!! Absolutely gorgeous! And, i also love the ginger as a ground cover/companion.

I have a question about what I think is Creeping Jenny in your raised beds (so pretty spilling over the sides) - does it behave well, with the hostas and other plants? I’ve had some in pots, and now there’s a lot extra, and I was thinking about using it in the garden - but I don’t have raised beds. It’s so easy to pull up and move/transplant from pot to pot... is it easy to control in the ground?

The plant in the last picture where the turtle is, is called European Ginger. There are 2 kinds one has the glossy leafs and one doesn’t. The one with the glossy leafs is gorgeous. I have two plants in different locations, and both of them aren’t thriving.

i wanted to ask you also about this plant and what you are doing so it’s so pretty growing?

all your hostas have already such a nice size! In the second photo the lime green Hosta - do you know the name? It stands out against the dark green and I love the ruffled edges. Great pictures btw!!!

zkathy, that is indeed European Wild Ginger.

windymess, the Creeping Jenny can tend to be somewhat invasive. I specifically want it to spill over the edge there and as the season goes on it will almost cover the side there. It will take root in the grass and needs to be pulled out. I have to trim it around the hostas every couple weeks.

Claudia, I really don't do much with the Ginger, just let it spread it self as time goes by. It reseeds and spreads quite well for me. It receives very little sun and I think also birds might somehow spread the seeds as it pops up in different places well away from the main area.

The lime green hosta is Sun Power, it looks a little more yellow to the ey

lindalana, that is Empress Wu in its second year in the ground. I potted it the first year until I had this new bed made. It has only three shoots that are over an inch in diameter and is about thirty inches high. I have a feeling in a year or two she is going to take over a big piece of that corner and I will have to do some moving. That is Sum and Substance next to her and she will be no slouch either.

I like the wild ginger but have never seen it for sale here, might have to order from mainland Europe.
