Does it have a smell? It looks like Russian sage to me, but you'd probably be able to smell that, without even trying, so.. .

Definitely not Russian sage. Russian sage is taller and has feathery leaves, and the flowers are in a more open cluster. Catmint or possibly purple sage.

Catnip bears heart-shaped, grayish-green leaves". From the smell I took, this plant did not have a minty odor but the description of its leaf is close. I have never seen catnip grow to this size as my cat always ate it. . The online pictures of purple sage flowers really looks like this plant. It's really 50-50 for each plant. The catnip leaf not the purple sage leaf. The purple sage flower not the catnip. Smell - up for grabs. Anyway, thanks to everyone for their input. It's either one or the other!!

Yes, that was salvia in the upper right.

I would not describe the nepeta smell as minty so that would throw off identification if you use that criteria. The nepeta Walker's Low in my yard looks just like this.

I just want to make sure there is no confusion. Catmint and Catnip are two different things. I still think this looks like Catmint.

Yes. Walker’s Low is one particular cultivar of cat mint named after the garden where it was first found. It is not low or small in size. There are some smaller varieties of catmint/Nepeta racemosa or N. X faassenii, but WL isn’t one of them.

Let me just say that it represents great garden value in the right spot. Blooms all summer and effectively blocks out weeds in its space.

Asarum, how do I get it to bloom all summer? Deadheading?
