But there are lots of nice flush mount cabinet pulls, why not learn to love something new? Here is one from Houzz but there are certainly a billion or so others from various sources. Your designer should be able to help with that.

Probably discontinued because nobody was buying them any more. Fashions change. It's the capitalist system.

I guess I don't see it as being messed up if the doors work nicely and you enjoy using the handle.

Are you adding more cabinets or moving to a new house? I ask because I'm wondering why you can't reuse the ones you own.

Can you remove the pulls you own and reuse them? Maybe on the most used cabinets or on the perimeter with a coordinating pull on the island?

It seems like you really love them so it would be worth finding a way to keep using them :)
