Wow!! That's horrible. I would go after them for damages. This is unacceptable especially since they were not even doing work on your property and didn't notify you of scheduled said work. We had our house sided last year and the workers were very careful around my roses (not so much around other smaller plants though). I was home though and constantly made them aware of the roses. We also had a roof put on our deck to make it a porch. This contractor also was as careful as could be considering his ladders were IN my rose bed. Some men are so clumsy. I even am weary of when my husband goes through the garden. I just don't think men realize how large their feet are :-)

Summers- why go after the neighbors instead of Comcast since their employees caused the damage not the neighbors. If your oil company spills oil that affects neighboring property are you responsible for the damage or the oil company? As a homeowner these people did nothing wrong, Comcast did. You have to live near your neighbors a lifetime or until (if) you move. Plus they most likely would have to pay for the damages out of pocket since most homeowners have deductibles.

At our last home we had a small transformer in front of our house and of course I planted all kinds of things around it however when they needed to get into that transformer irises were snapped off and broken, roses disturbed. But they said too bad because it is actually their right of way to get to their transformer so I understand that, but. what they did in your yard with no notice that's not very nice. They may state right of way in this case as well.

That's an idea to go after the company. I was surprised her neighbor could do that. It sounds like a rental property. If she doesn’t own the property , not sure the company could pay her or not.......the property owner gets the damage payment. We'd need more info. It's also trespassing.

This is not my neighbor's fault, she didn't know until I showed it to her. The other problem is I'm not at home. I'm a grad student so I commute during the week to school and am home on the weekends. I did call Comcast, talk to supervisor so I'll guess I'll see what happens.

summersrhythm, I rent but any work that is done on the property, I'm always notified first due to the fact I live there.

I can relate, when I put my first garden bed in, it was by the gas meters but I didn't realize it. I ended up having to move several shrubs, now it just native plants that can handle some abuse.

First see if there is a right of way through your yard. If there is, all you can do is hope they return it to its previous condition.
