I haven't had any ceiling fan problems interfering with the lights. And from the picture you have shown, I don't expect any problems since my lights, I think, are much closer. But I do recommend placing the ceiling fan more center to the room rather than over the bed just from better symmetry in the room.

Yeah, I thought the downlights are far enough away from the fan that I shouldn't have flickering issues :)

So it's more important to centre the fan in the room, even though the blades would extend past the foot of the bed a little? I originally centred the fan more above the bed due to a fairly low ceiling height (7.5 feet), although the hugger fan will only extend 10.5" from the ceiling.

Its not necessarily important, but it does look pleasing to look at. Of course though, if you would like it over the bed, that could work as well.

I agree taht it would probalby look best with the fan centred in the room, but at least the centre of the room (marked in the diagram) isn't far from the centre of the bed. I'll see what it looks like when I receive the fan.

For practical purposes, I might end up centring over the bed so that the fan blades aren't protruding into a traffic area. My ceilings are only 7.50' which means that the fan blades would be at 6.75' from the floor which is a little low but tolerable IMO (especially if it's over a bed).
