I plant all my vegetables and fruit trees in huge pots. In addition to the fruit trees I also have my squashes and tomato in a huge containers for this year. There's no end of what you can grow in a big pot.

So #1 is 7 ft 10 inches long, about 2 feet wide and 24 inches deep if filled to the rim. You could grow 1 row of lots of things in that size except for all the shade. That will limit you to just the shade-tolerant things like leafy greens - lettuce, spinach, chard, etc.- in it. So 7 heads of lettuce or mixed greens would fit. 5 broccoli plants might do ok.

Planter #2 in the full sun can grow 1 narrow row of just about anything you like as long as long as you use proper spacing between the plants. Squash might be difficult as they get so wide and would fall over the sides. But you could do 4 tomato plants, 5-6 pepper plants, or a row of onions (very late to plant those), some cukes if you add a trellis, etc.

A lot of the success or failure depends on what you fill the boxes with.
